Dh is starting training in a week but has been placed at the opposite end of the country for it, so will have to stay in a hotel, which is paid for by the company. But, he is yet to find out whether they are also providing breakfast/lunch/dinner or allowance, as the training is 1-2 weeks and too far to travel home each evening.

Has anyone been there, done that, and knows what to expect on that score? I'm trying to budget for him being away in the last week before payday but it's difficult when I don't know what to expect yet. Will find out Thurs or Friday but it's a bit close to monday for my liking.

My DH works for sky... I'm guessing your husband is training for an engineer role? It's normal to go away for training and he imagines food should be provided. Or at least an allowance. Sky as a company are good to work for, the free sky is a brucie bonus too! I'd get your hubby to check with his manager but given how subsidised the general staff canteen is then my DH imagines sky will cover this.

Usually if you are away for work training you get a daily allowance for meals etc that the company picks up. However he may have to pay and then get expenses back from the receipts.
