Should I bother going to the GP for this?

So, basically I've had a chest pain on and off all day. It only lasts a few seconds at a time, feels like a squeezing pain behind my right breast. Comes on randomly every few minutes or not for an hour or so.

I can't feel anything, it doesn't hurt to touch

Do I bother with the stress of trying to book a gp app tomorrow?!

Yes. Go to the Dr. It's chest pain. My mum ignored her and had a perf ulcer, and nearly died. It could be something, could be nothing.

Bambamber · 18/06/2018 20:06

New chest pain should always be checked out.

I have a chronic condition that causes regular bouts of chest pain yet my GP insists I get checked out every time it flares up just to be on the safe side

Pascall · 18/06/2018 20:07

Definitely get checked out.

Fattymcfaterson · 18/06/2018 20:08

I just hate going to the doctors, i always feel like I'm wasting their time!

Out of hours/walk-in/urgent care? Better to be checked out asap.

Fattymcfaterson · 18/06/2018 20:13

Nearest out of hours is 25 miles away, not doable for me. They closed my local one last year

Please phone 111 just for advice don't leave it till morning. It might be nothing but it's better to be safe

Bambamber · 18/06/2018 20:15

Chest pain isn't a waste of anyone's time.

My mum called an ambulance for my dad once as he was collapsed on the couch in agony clutching his chest barely able to move. Turned out he had trapped wind Grin ambulance crew didn't mind in the slightest, said they would rather attend a genuine false alarm than miss the one time it is something sinister

Elliemayclampett · 18/06/2018 20:16

Seriously? Get some attention from a trained medical person rather than asking on here and ignoring advice

Fattymcfaterson · 18/06/2018 20:18

How am I ignoring advise? Because I won't walk 25 miles to the nearest out of hours service?

Could you be having a panic attack?

giveitfive · 18/06/2018 20:21

Never a waste of time. Call 111 and let them assess you. Don't concern yourself about how near the walk in centre is. If 111 think you need help they will send it. Try to keep calm and hope you feel better soon x

itcuddles · 18/06/2018 20:22

Call 111. It's probably nothing but the risk of it being something serious is not worth taking. Chest pain should never be ignored.

PoohBearsHole · 18/06/2018 20:23

definitely seek medical advice. Mine turned out to be costochondritis. Fucking painful but ultimately not life threatening. It also moved around my chest.

However, I have a diagnosis of this and still when it flares up my Dr will book me in just in case.

PoohBearsHole · 18/06/2018 20:24

And call a taxi/friend/relative to help you out!

BlueEyedBengal · 18/06/2018 20:25

Calll 111 now and get the advice of a medic now. Chest pain should never be ignored or a check delayedHmm
