Hi all, posting here for traffic.

I bought a beauty box from an online shop and signed up to a monthly subscription so I could cancel if I didn't like it. The box arrived and I wasn't impressed so I cancelled my subscription, it was only a few days after receiving the box and no longer than a week later.

3 weeks later money is taken from my bank so I signed on to my account but it showed as 'no subscriptions' and had no current orders. I went onto live chat and was told the box had been sent out and my sub would be cancelled AFTER that box. I told her I cancelled in good time and nothing was showing on my account but she dismissed this and told me if I didn't want it, to return the box - at my own cost- and they would process a refund.

I wasn't happy so I emailed a complaint and left a negative review on a review site. A day later I received a response from the review, stating I DIDN'T have to return the box and they would give me a refund in 5-7 days. An email response 2 days later said the same thing. Happy days!

A week later, no refund, so I emailed again and 3 days later got the same response, a refund would be given in 5-7 days.

It been 3 weeks now and still no refund. I'm not getting anywhere with the company so is there anyone else I can compain to?

Tia

You say "your bank" so I'm assuming debit card but in case it was your credit card you could do a chargeback through them. A good reason to use a credit card when possible as they'll take up the fight on your behalf.

A debit card busy.

I'm not on social media but I suppose I could set up a Twitter account and then delete it?

ThanksSmile

You can do a chargeback with a debit card. Just call your branch and ask them, they will email you a form to fill in.

They refunded my money in 24hrs with a note to say that they were still investigating and would be in contact with me when the investigation finished just in case I was wrong and had to pay.

I didn't know this! Can I do it all online? My 'local branch' isn't that local.

I called my bank and told them the situation (goods ordered, never arrived, company unresponsive) and asked to speak to the chargeback team for debit cards. They emailed me the form, I emailed it back, they refunded my money in 24hrs.

Really simple.

Most people think you can only get chargeback on credit cards but that's not the case.
