To thinking this parking charge is unfair.

Had a letter from enterprise and my dh had aquired a fine from an ncp carpark. They automatically charged £35. Crap but int their T AND C's. We have not recieved the NCP fine yet. Not sure how long they have to reissue but waiting 2 weeks since enterprise letter.

However we did park in this carpark payed for a few hours and left within the time. At first I though DH must have entered the number plate wrong but I then checked the NCP carpark site and I think this is what happened.
Charges are
1hr 80p
1-4hrs £1.20
all day £3

so my DH put in 1.20 for 4 hrs. But I guess 4hrs would be 80p plus 1.20. =£2. My DH can be a flake but this is surely a deliberate way to scam people. I always look for the time down a list and pay the amount next to it, iv never seen a parking charge listed like this. More than likely I would have paid 1.20 too. Does anyone know how I can word this appeal or shall we suck it up and pay??

No the charges are 80p for up to an hour. For 1 hour to 4 hours it's 1.20.so if you stayed more than 1 hour but less than 4 you would pay £1.20 - looks pretty clear to me.

Firesuit · 17/06/2018 11:56

From that description I think it is £1.20 for up to 4 hours.

SoupDragon · 17/06/2018 11:58

How long were you in the car park for?

Eatalot · 17/06/2018 11:59

OK LOL. Thank you, I still have no idea then I though maybe it was 'after the hour charge' and was like WTF. We only stayed about 2hrs so maybe it was number plate incorrectly. I am stressing as on Mat leave and money is Tiiight so £100 fine (IM ASSUMING) and 35 enterprise charge is a weeks pay.

You wouldn't happen to know how long the have to reissue do you? Clutching at straws very tightly.

I'd have thought 1.20 if you were there less than 4 hours.

ApolloandDaphne · 17/06/2018 12:02

You can write and disputed the fine.

FASH84 · 17/06/2018 12:03

Have you still got the ticket you paid for ordid you tap and oyay? Could you send a copy to enterprise to show you have paid

theycallmebabydriver · 17/06/2018 12:05

Your interpretation doesn't sound right to me, most car parking charges are itemized in that way and if you wanted to stay up to 4 hours you pay £1.20. Can you get enterprise to send you the details of the fine just to check the details are correct ie or your DH definitely didn't exceed the 4 hours? Also was it a van you hired and was the charge different for parking a van maybe?

Eatalot · 17/06/2018 12:11

No unfortunately the ticket was left in the car. I normally collect them from dash and put in glove box for future ref. The car was returned that same day, we had payed ticket cost so didn't really think about it and it was left on the dash. It must be the reg entered wrong.

Yes babydriver I see what you mean now, In my desperation I saw black and white as red. It was a car not a van. Lovely car at that. We have a shitty banger that was made shitter when some roidhead crashed into it parked. Insurance fixed it and they gave us a lovely shiny new hirecar. Was nice to drive around with air conditioning. Lol. I will have to wait for charge to be resent I guess to see what the actual infraction was. But I know we paid 1.20 and only had about 2hrs as had to get back to pick my dd up from school.

I'd look at the number plate issue. If you were there less than 4 hours and paid £1.20, you should have been fine.

SoupDragon · 17/06/2018 13:56

Unfortunately I think you might be stuffed if you don’t have the Original car park ticket.

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 17/06/2018 14:26

Was the ticket definitely on the dash and in full view so all details could be read?

I once got a fine when I'd bought a ticket but it blew off the dash when I shut the car door. I tried arguing my case but the T&Cs say that "the ticket must be displayed....blah blah"
