Online passport renewal mistake

Just realised my son has less than 6 months on his passport so thought I should get it renewed ASAP. So just sat and filled it in online and payed. After paying it showed his name and date of birth beside it and I realised I filled in his date of birth wrong by 1 digit. Aargghhhhh!!!!

It won't let me go back in and edit it. Don't know what to do. Was hoping to get it countersigned today and sent off in the morning but obviously can't do that now.

Anyone made a mistake online before? How did you get it sorted? I know I'm going to have to wait till tomorrow morning and call them up.

I hope I don't lose my fee. Or cause too much delay as I know processing time can be quite long this time of year.

Have been searching online and not found any info.

This may be a stupid question, but is there a number anywhere that you can ring?

Hi. I did this last year, putting in wrong year of birth for my daughter. A colleague did the same too, and in both cases, it just required a covering letter stating you've made a mistake and what it should be. As long as you're sending documents to prove it, there shouldn't be a problem.

@LegArmpits I assumed the information on the application needed to be correct in order for someone to counter sign. I don't think a professional will counter sign if the info is not correct.

I was told it would be fine by the passport office. (It was, and came back withing ten days. Was a brand new application too.)
I can't remember if my countersignatory signed the letter I'd written as well - wouldn't hurt I'm sure.

You have loads of time, new passports come back pretty quick these days.
