Was my friend BU in my dream?

Had a dream last night that it was my friend's birthday and on the day, she was working. She had her own business selling Fortnite costumes on a market stall. Anyway, I told her that I would come to the stall and hang out with her for the day as it was her birthday and I wanted to make the day a bit fun for her and keep her company.

As soon as I arrived, she spoke to the other staff to tell them she was going home and I was covering her!! I was a bit taken aback and said "oh...so I'm working your shift? What as a kind of birthday treat??" She said yes, she was going home to put her feet up.

10 minutes in and I couldn't believe I had another 7 hours to go because I was bored as hell. It was quiet and no-one wanted to buy these stupid outfits. I thought to myself, as SOON as I get home I'm going on AIBU to ask if this was out of order of my friend. On the other hand, it was her birthday and this was a nice thing to do for her.

Nothing is unreasonable in a dream

BMW6 · 16/06/2018 21:35

Because it's, you know, not real

cakedup · 16/06/2018 21:36

That's what I thought BMW6 until I had to work a 7 hour shift selling fancy dress outfits.

But it took up 7 hours of my dream time? I could have been ice skating with Idris Elba or whatever.

You need to get the hang of lucid dreaming OP, then you could just take control of the dream and go ice skating (or anything else!) with Idris Elba Grin

WhitePhantom · 16/06/2018 21:43

But yeah, your friend was a total bitch and you should end the friendship!!

donutsarelife · 16/06/2018 21:45

The amount of time I spend pissed off with my DP because he has been an arse is definitely U!

donutsarelife · 16/06/2018 21:46

In my dreams I mean 😳🙄

iklboo · 16/06/2018 21:50

In my dream last night DH made me a barrel sized bowl of Heinz tomato soup and a full loaf of Warburtons toastie bread toasted exactly how I like it with loads of butter. And told me I didn't have to go to work until I'd eaten it all. And it was magically self-reheating.

I fell in love with him all over again Grin

FromthePinkGlitterySide · 16/06/2018 21:54

What a selfish bitch. Go NC

cakedup · 16/06/2018 22:03

I used to lucid dream quite a lot when I was younger WhitePhantom!
I'd be like, hold on a minute something's not quite right here...I must be dreaming and then I'd be off. Flying usually.

iklboo are you dream stealth boasting?

Hang on, you don't seriously have dreams that feel like they took 7 hours right...? Just checking if I'm normal here

combatbarbie · 16/06/2018 22:08

YADNBU if it was reality....however you didn't lose 8.5hrs sleep, most likely 30 mins dependant on what state of REM you are in 😉

combatbarbie · 16/06/2018 22:09

Sorry 7hrs...

PizzaAndChips · 16/06/2018 22:19

She's definitely BU. Birthday or no birthday, you don't do that to your friends!

Seriously, though, has anyone actually woken up and been massively pissed off because their DH/DP had been a dickhead in their dream? No? Just me then Hmm

EekThreek · 16/06/2018 22:23

I had a weird, really involved, dream the other night, that DD(8) had done some homework where she'd written a couple of paragraphs about a holiday she'd been on. So she wrote a little bit about visiting St Ives, but the teacher wrote a note back saying it needed more detail (as in, exactly how many grapes she had in her snack).

So I wrote something back to the effect of 'the holiday was nearly two years ago, we can't remember that kind of detail and anyway, the homework didn't ask for that level of detail so it's a bit unfair to mark her down for it", then got a letter from the HT telling me that I'd been really spiteful to reply back with a note full of vitriol especially to a teacher who was battling with MH issues and had been suicidal over the holidays ShockConfused

Woke up and felt completely disjointed. I had to check her homework book to be completely sure I definitely dreamt it, and hadn't accidentally pissed off all her teachers Grin

iklboo · 16/06/2018 22:27

Noooo @cakedup - it's the last bloody thing he'd do in RL! Grin

FromthePinkGlitterySide · 17/06/2018 08:18

I had a dream that DH cheated on me once. He eventually apologised and we decided to try and move on from the incident. We've split up now. Unrelated to the dream cheating

LuMarie · 17/06/2018 08:20

Ice skating with Idris Elba?

Goodnight all!

cakedup · 17/06/2018 10:09

busybarbara I can't really grasp the concept of time when dreaming but it's the principle in this case. It was definitely a 7 hour shift I had to do and that's what matters.

combatbarbie 30 minutes?? I thought it would be less than that actually. Now I'm really pissed off.

When I was with my dp (this is 15 years ago now) I used to have dreams where he had just suddenly stopped loving me. It was such a horrible feeling and in the morning he would insist that would never happen. Then one day it actually did (literally changed towards me overnight...found out later due to MH problems) and I felt exactly how I had done in my dreams.

Just for the record, you weren't BU EekThreek. Why are all these unreasonable people invading our dreams??

One time I had a dream that I was chatting away to a gorgeous guy and then I suddenly realised it was a dream. So I thought I might as well have sex with him and wanted to get on with it before I woke up. So I leaned in to kiss him and he backed off, saying "err...no thanks." And I thought, I've just been rejected by a figment of my own imagination. It doesn't get much worse than that.
