People smoking weed rant

SamanthaH92 · 16/06/2018 12:17

I have just been and opened every upstairs window whilst cleaning. Done our room, gone in to DDs room and the smell is hurrendous!! I'm pregnant so yes my sense of smell is a bit stronger but the whole upstairs of our house now smells of cannabis. Its making me bork. Why do people feel the need to smoke such a strong smelling thing near someones house and not inside their own? I have no air fresher and apart from keeping the windows open don't know how to get rid of the foul smell. Who ever is smoking it must be in the alley behind our house. Each to their own, i have nothing against people using it BUT i don't want the smell in my house! Just needed a rant as really winds me up!

I was in Amsterdam last week, I feel your pain.

hannah1992 · 16/06/2018 12:19

Annoys me too. Our neibgours smoke it. I have patio doors and decking and we are semi detached, when I open patio doors it just flows in if they’re stood at the back of their house and it’s one of them smells that just lingers around and doesn’t seem to go away for hours on end.

Yet they moaned when we had a bbq because the smoke was going over that way 🤔.

Mind boggles

mancmummy1414 · 16/06/2018 12:31

I hate it, people smoke it near where we live and every time the windows open it wafts into ours and the DC bedroom. I suffer headaches and the smell make it loads worse!
Dabbled myself in my youth do not judging the drug use but not considering other people really grates me.
It’s the same with fags; this awful woman was smoking at the Met stop yesterday and blowing it in my toddlers face. Gives me the rage! (He did put a judgey voice on though and went OH THAT IS STINKY Grin)

SamanthaH92 · 16/06/2018 12:34

@hannah1992 i hope you then complained to them about the smell as well. A bbq is not as bad as the horrible, and as you say lingering smell that produces! Xx

@mancmummy1414 oh I'm an ex smoker, but i would never at that time smoked around children. I now realise how bad i smelled when i did smoke. But this takes the biscuit. I can still smell it now. We don't live in a brilliant area but even when we go to MILS in a better area kids normally meet outside there house smoking it.

Samantha ex smoker here too! No problem with people smoking anything but be considerate of others! (Especially children) the bbq cf sounds awful, I would be bbqing every sunny day to piss off the stinky neighbours!

2blueshoes · 16/06/2018 12:56

DS21 smokes (not in the house) the rows we have about it are biblical. His room stinks of it, even though he denies there's any there. God I hope he comes out of this soon, it's sending my blood pressure through the roof.

How can I stop him? I can't. He's an adult. The only thing left is to kick him out, but we love him and don't want him homeless.

Our hall and upstairs can reek of it. But he 100% doesn't smoke it in the house. I called the police after one mega argument last year, when I found him, in his pants, at the bottom of the garden at 10.30 in the morning. He looked like Gollum (not his head, just his body) crouching smoking the stuff.

He left uni and is staggering one crap job to another. It's taken his drive away.

Sorry for hijacking thread op, just fucking stressed.

araiwa · 16/06/2018 13:01

I love the smell of that sweet sweet aroma

SamanthaH92 · 16/06/2018 13:47

@2blueshoes only he can stop it unfortunetly. It can't be a nice situation. Hugs xx

You have 21 Sons?! Shock

KittyVonCatsworth · 16/06/2018 13:52

I love the smell of it to araiwa!

adoggymama · 16/06/2018 13:53

@MrsDylanBlue DS age 21 obviously.Hmm

Consideredintrusion · 16/06/2018 14:00

Hate it also. It makes my gums feel weird. It’s EVERYWHERE though. Easier for kids to get than alcohol.
@2blueshoes I have exact same issue with my son. The way it lingers in clothes is horrible. Double washing everything and can still smell it. Hoping he gets a very straight gf who can sort him out where I’ve obviously failed.

SlothSlothSloth · 16/06/2018 14:11

OP how old is your DD? If she’s a teen maybe she’s the one smoking it...

SamanthaH92 · 16/06/2018 14:18

@slothslothsloth my DD is 2 years old. Defiently is not her lol!

I only smoke outside when the neighbours light up their BBQs - I just hope our neighbourly smells all fuse together into one love smell.

Other than that I really do try and contain my smoke as I realize it's not a great thing to inflict on others.

OrcinusOrca · 16/06/2018 16:20

Also feel your pain. Our old neighbours used to do it. Moved a year ago and new neighbour seems to do it too. Every nice warm evening the stench of weed has been floating into my house lately. I had friends round to stay last weekend and the first thing they noticed as we got out the car was the stench. I hate it. Soooo much.

Ofalltheginjoints · 16/06/2018 16:35

I know where you’re coming from OP! We live in a flat and the back entrance, which leads into the gardens, often stinks of Cannabis (I have to go that way due to building accessibility), I work in substance misuse so having smelt Cannabis throughout much of the day in the waiting area the last thing I need is to smell it at home even in nice weather people must be smoking just outside the door for the space to smell so bad

SamanthaH92 · 16/06/2018 16:54

I don't think people care where they smoke it. I often pass teens walking around smoking it, but like i said we don't live in a brilliant area. I've gone out and hope when i get home the smell has gone! I can cope with fairly noisey neighbourghs and them sat outside drinking on their door steps but just not that smell lol xx

wannabestressfree · 16/06/2018 17:00

My ndn smokes it heavily- she is expecting number 6 and smokes about ten joints a day. They grow it (small amount for own use) and smoke it and I am annoyed that even though it's a class B drug no one seems to care!!
I am having chemo and the smell makes me want to chuck up. I can't have my windows or doors open and it makes my washing smell!!
So i hear your rant and raise you one !!!

Mumofthreebies · 16/06/2018 17:04

What I’m more concerned about kids smoking it on school premises and on school trips. There are photos my son showed me on line of boys at St Olaves grammar school smoking it while they were away on a school trip. The teachers clearly don’t know what the boys are up to. And the fact that it’s on social media makes me wonder what can we do to protect our children who are at standard state schools if super selective ones can’t even keep the kids under control?? To be honest, if my son was at that school I’m sure he would wonder what it was like. Who knows maybe even tempted to try it.

Chuckle65 · 16/06/2018 17:10

It smells absolutely revolting! Like the sweaty armpits of someone who has eaten a lot of garlic

VioletCharlotte · 16/06/2018 17:21

YANBU. I hate it too. You smell it everywhere you go around where I live. It's vile.

mrsFruitLoops · 16/06/2018 17:48

oh god, our neighbour smokes it....he must have 3 joints or more a day. he left his little bag which had weed, grinder, etc outside our house while playing football. my son picked it up and handed it to dh..... who then handed it into the police.
Neighbour then, later on, knocked on our door asking if we'd seen it...he thought we were joking that we'd handed it in but I dont care....he shouldn't leave it where children can pick it up.

BobbinThreadbare123 · 16/06/2018 17:52

There's quite a few households in my area who smoke the stinkiest weed ever. When I was a student people smoked a bit but it never smelled anything like this. It's incredibly strong and it makes me feel sick. Then again, the people who do smoke it don't give a shit about being polite to anyone else, so openly doing so on a canal towpath where children cycle and people walk dogs doesn't bother them.
