Clingy

Is the word 'clingy' appropriate to describe an item of clothing worn by a child?

Yes why wouldn’t it be

Some clothing is made out of an awful clingy material which I find uncomfortable so prefer to dress my dc in loose fitting clothes as well as myself

I've never heard it used to describe mens/boys clothing and seems an odd choice. I am posting to see a general view, seemed off to me.
