Job notice

I've been offered a new job I can't turn down, and at the time I was interviewed had no notice period. I then took on a short term job helping a family member, and they require me to work for a few weeks now ideally. However, I've been given the new job and a start date of next week. AIBU to contact them and ask them to delay me starting?

Thank you

You’d be better asking your family member to get out of the commitment early.

Same, sort it out with family. You accepted a job when you had no notice period so shouldn't have done something to compromise that - or kept it in mind. You can't expect the new employer to keep the vacancy for you when they had a date they expected you to start and you said you needed no notice period. If anything you should have told them when you started the family thing that you're doing something you might need to give notice on and ask them to give you a start date as soon as they could.
