They are videoing the sports day and then demanding that the results be changed because the 'photo finish' shows that their child won instead of the one declared the winner.

FFS, grow up and get a grip is my view.

This is taking things way too far. However the dd who's mum takes her to the park to run.Perhaps running is her thing and sports day is her day to shine.

It’s really annoying when your child doesn’t win the correct place, but it’s not the end of the world and of course those parents are being OTT.

I hate our sports day and let my kids miss it as I dislike the 1st, 2nd, 3rd stuff and the fact our school has the eldest primary kids giving out the stickers means it is pretty inaccurate and unfair mostly. I would far prefer a potted sports fun thing but sadly our school seems to like the traditional crap.

The PP mentioning the girl running- her mum should take her to junior parkrun and encourage her to run for her own enjoyment and to improve on her own times etc- not to beat others and “shine”.

They obviously did away with the running race so there would be no winner. Remember our education system is set up so everyone is a winner (except teachers favourites who win every thing).

I remember sports days when the teachers took absolutely no fucking notice of who came 1st, 2nd and 3rd and gave everyone a sticker 'for trying'. As you say, it's a shame as for some children it was their time to shine.
