To be feeling a bit hysterical about all the flies?

We live fairly rurally, and every time we have our patio doors open our kitchen is full of flies within about 5 minutes. And I HATE them - they make me feel hysterical about germs, and I’ve just swatted one that had actual bloody maggots on it 😱. Has anyone had any joy anything that gets rid of them, or prevents them getting in?

I buy red top fly catchers from Amazon, they are brilliant, they work extremely well , used on small holdings and farms. amazon sell them in pairs but yo7 might get a single one locally, try an equestrian centre.

@Alwayscheerful are they for inside or outside? Not sure I could cope with a bucket of dead flies in my kitchen 🤢

My MiL has just bought these stick on butterfly things with some sort of fly repellant on them and stuck them on each window. We’ve had the doors and windows open for a freckle days now and I haven’t seen one fly yet whereas we normally plagued by them. I’m not sure what they’re called but will text and ask.

red top fly catcher outside away from the property

window stickers indoors

fly screens or curtains at the doors. I just got one of those retro ribbon curtain things

Why don't you just get some screens? The clacky shut ones for then door and window ones where you cut to size.

They're cheap and effective

Ive got those gamerchick the ones with the magnets down the middle, cost about £2.99 from Home Bargains. They work a treat too, I have them on all downstairs doors in the summer and whip them off in the cooler months, as they are velcro

We are in a similar situation and the only thing that seems to have cured things properly is an electric fly zapper. I don't leave it on all the time and don't do what I did and leave a window open with no screens up at night (queue ten million moths, daddy long legs etc all in the kitchen attracted by the light!).

I don't ever leave it unsupervised though due to the hotel fire the other year which was said to be down to an electric fly zapper causing embers of burned fly to spit everywhere.

It wouldn't be so bad if fly killer actually worked. =(
