When is the right time dc2

Just need some advice.

I really want another sibling for dc who is 4. However, at the same time it's not the best of times work wise but we could work around it if it happened.

I am so torn if we should just go for it and have another or hold off for now. If we hold off it will be for another year. I'm 28 but I always go with the mantra 'life's too short' and generally do things so that's why I'm really struggling to decided.

Benefits of dc2
-sibling for dc ( whilst she's at a decent age)
-we want another child

Downsides
-lack of sleep during busy work times and deadlines etc which I'm most worried about especially when pregnant
-short maternity leave (I will feel guilty)

What age did you have a sibling for your dc and what would you do in my situation.

I'd go for it as there will always be something to worry about!

I've got a two year gap between my eldest and there will be 2.5 years between middle and the baby. For me that was the ideal gap. I'd say if you've left it then a year won't make much difference and then you'll be in a better position work wise

Both times i have fallen pregnant my initial thoughts have been “oh crap” due to various circumstances but both times it has worked out alright. You will just adapt to the new baby and you’ll be glad you did. You’re more likely to regret not doing it. Who knows what is round the corner so waiting a year could mean it never happening. If you want a second child then do it.

You'll never find the 'ideal time' to have a baby, and you won't necessarily get pregnant when you intend to. If you want a second, I'd suggest you just go for it now. I had three by the time my oldest was 3.5 years old with just one salary and a house that badly needed fixing up. I sometimes wonder how we coped, but the thing is we did. The three DC have a great relationship with each other.
