To be infuriated with PayPal

Trying to change my surname...

I’ve sent them my divorce certificate, my new marriage certificate and my driving license in my new name and apparently that’s all insufficient to prove my new name
They’ve now told me I need to close my account and open a new one!

Idiots.

i dont know why you cant change your name on paypal but its true since splitting with my ex, despite the money always going through my bank account, because he was the name on the email havent been able to change mine either, but if you open a new paypal account they put restrictions on it

What sort of restrictions?

Email is mine, bank account is mine so not sure that’s a factor, think it might just be incompetence.
What kind of restrictions do they put on it? I’ve had my PayPal for about 10 years!

not sure on normal transactions but if you sell on ebay you have to leave the money in for so long before you can take it out, and they put restriction of how much money you can withdraw without verifying the account

It’s actually MUCH easier to close the account and then open a new one in your new name. I was advised to do that rather than send any paperwork. Did it in one evening.

Have you clicked on settings and gone through the change your name personal bit? I've just done mine. I uploaded my driving license and marriage certificate and that's it, it was changed the next day!

I've just left mine in my maiden name. I have other stuff in my maud3n name and don't really care.

I have gone through the settings and uploaded all the documents. Still not happy.

If it was my maiden name I wouldn’t be bothered but it is my old married name.

I’ve given in and closed my account.

Reopened it using the same email address and was not asked for any proof of name or address or anything!
