To invite FIL out on father's day?

I'm arranging a surprise for DH for father's day. We're taking him out for lunch at a local pub. I want to invite MIL and FIL to join us and the children to celebrate. Is this ok for me to do? Or should DH be the one to invite FIL out for father's day? However it's a surprise for DH so it's a difficult situation. I'm just worried that DH probably has no intention of arranging to see FIL on father's day so he might be a bit put out that I invited him....

Why would he be put out? If he has a tricky relationship with his dad then I’d consider it carefully but if they get on fine then it’s a lovely idea

Thanks everyone. Do you think we should meet them there and keep the surprise going for a bit longer or just tell them to come to ours first so everyone knows what the day's plans are?
