Oh god I'm such an idiot!

I did a beautiful slow roast Gammon yesterday in my slow cooker and left the leftovers in a tupperware (with the lid slightly off) to cool down before putting it in the fridge.

I forgot to put it in the fridge last night and it's been out all night.

If I 're heat the absolute crap out of it do you think it would be alright? Or is it just not worth the risk?

It was so tasty damnit!!! Sad

I think it will be OK, just give it a sniff

TwitterQueen1 · 10/06/2018 09:21

of course it will be alright - with or without reheating. It's overnight for goodness sake - not 24 hours in burning sunshine.

RibenaMonsoon · 10/06/2018 10:06

I know I'm probably just being silly. I always get a bit freaked out with chicken or pork.

Thanks for your replies

Yeah, it’ll be fine.
I love a slow cooked gammon!

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 10/06/2018 17:06

It would be crawling with bacteria, no?

RibenaMonsoon · 10/06/2018 17:30

Thanks for the link.
Haven't eaten any yet. Now in 2 minds with these mixed responses.Surely if I reheat the crap out of it it will kill the dodgy bacteria? Or i could just nip to co-op and get some bacon for my salad tonight.

It will be fine unless it was sitting in the full sun

chipsandpeas · 10/06/2018 17:35

id eat it

DramaAlpaca · 10/06/2018 17:37

Yep, it'll be fine.

AnchorDownDeepBreath · 10/06/2018 17:47

How warm is your kitchen overnight?

Mine used to warm up quite a lot, so I wouldn't have eaten it if I'd left it out there. Now it stays quite chilled, so I probably would.

I don't think reheating would kill off everything, so if you're in two minds, play safe.

BarbaraofSevillle · 10/06/2018 17:57

I'd eat it too. I leave food out pretty much all the time and I am never ill.

Don't forget gammon is cured with loads of salt.
