The first one looks like sumac and the second looks to me like bamboo. Both of which are tenacious and difficult to get rid of.

mycelialnetwork · 09/06/2018 18:50

Or the first one could be elder? Does it have slightly furry stems?

ineptgrappling · 09/06/2018 19:20

Thanks mycelialnetwork. No, not furry stems.

2nd one defintely looks like bamboo. It's a total pain, my neighbour has it and its forever encroaching through the fence!

ineptgrappling · 09/06/2018 19:30

Thanks - will go and pull out the bamboo right now!

Any more thoughts on the other one?

Bamboo is expensive and not all are invasive.unless it's Hugh and spreading I would leave it,they are rather beautiful.

DontOpenDeadInside · 09/06/2018 21:03

My plant app is bringing up Ash for the 1st one.

Hogwartssnitch · 09/06/2018 21:05

Download the app called 'picture this' it's really good, identifies most plants

BarbarianMum · 09/06/2018 21:12

First one is not ash

cate16 · 09/06/2018 21:15

1st one could be a Walnut? The squirrels keep planting them in my garden, they keep springing up everywhere.

MintyChops · 09/06/2018 21:15

Ground elder?

southbucks77 · 10/06/2018 22:24

2nd = bamboo
