Pleeeease put me out of my misery. There's a song I hear the odd time over the last few years and I can never identify it. I heard it a few weeks ago and remembered some lyrics but have now forgotten them. I've been googling for hours as it's driving me crazy.
It's kind of a dance song but slightly chilled out with a repetitive bass beat, and a female singer quietly singing line after line in the same tune. I can't remember the chorus, all I can remember is the one line from one of the verses 'our house is not a home' but searches online keep giving me songs about that topic. This song is kind of negative, like she's complaining about something. She is singing, but almost talking, if you know what I mean. Please help, I'm so frustrated, I've been trying to work this out for about 3 years, I think!

I have no idea and in normally pretty good at these things!! All it's coming up with for me is Luther sodding Vandross

BasilFaulty · 09/06/2018 15:01

Where did you hear it? If it was on a radio station can you look back at their playlist for that day??

Oddcat · 09/06/2018 15:01

Kelly rowland ?m.youtube.com/watch?v=LBrnJD1lAAM

FASH84 · 09/06/2018 15:02

Is it no roots by Alice Merton?

Mildura · 09/06/2018 15:03

Maybe -

Kelly Rowland - Everytime you walk out that door

MaireadMacSweeney · 09/06/2018 15:03

It's an old song, but Dionne Warwick 'A house is not a home'?

Mildura · 09/06/2018 15:04

BrazzleDazzleDay · 09/06/2018 15:05

The breeders cannonball

binglyboo · 09/06/2018 15:23

It's not Jess Glynne Take me Home?

twernip · 09/06/2018 15:26

Maybe this one?

CadyHeron · 09/06/2018 15:31

You need the shazam app in your life (think that's what it's called.)
Point your phone at the song when it comes on and it identifies it for you.
Bloody brilliant! No more OMG what is this song moments Grin
Sorry, not much help on your current dilemma though

carrotcake121 · 09/06/2018 15:33

is it family portrait by Pink

tillytoodles1 · 09/06/2018 15:37

our house is not a home by Candy Duffer?

bebanjo · 09/06/2018 15:37

I'm going to say it's 'She' by Edie Brickell and the new bohemians from the album shooting rubber bands at the sky.

Fibbertigibbet · 09/06/2018 15:38

For some reason, your description reminded me of Missing by Everything But The Girl, even though it doesn't have that lyric.

Bumblebee2302 · 09/06/2018 15:40

Unappreciated by Cherish?

OuchLegoHurts · 09/06/2018 15:45

Thanks for all the suggestions but no joy Sad

It's actually not hugely unlike Missing You by Everything But the Girl actually, but more muted, not as 'singy' IYKWIM!!

It's not about a house not being a home, that's only one throwaway line in it.

Aaaaaargh!

There's a song this could describe. Really repetitive but oddly engaging.

I can't remember any lyrics. But the video is of a black woman in a bar, she's sitting at a table saying/singing the words. The camera draws back from her and you see the other people in the bar dancing/acting out scenes. When the song starts to repeat every resets - camera up close and the dancers start again as the camera draws back.

I love the video and the song. But I can't remember either!!

cricketmum84 · 09/06/2018 15:53

Where have you heard it? Might help to narrow the search down :)

OuchLegoHurts · 09/06/2018 15:58

I've heard it on the radio randomly in shops and in the car...think it's been over the last, say, 3 years. It's not new. I'm scrolling through the top 100 songs since 2013 but nothing jumps out!

The description makes me think of morcheeba

Hobbes8 · 09/06/2018 16:01

Distractions by zero 7?

The lyrics don’t quite match (it’s “fancy a big house some kids and a horse”) but the description does.

OuchLegoHurts · 09/06/2018 16:02

She could say something to do with everyone getting old, and maybe something to do with a desert... aaargh I'm so confused

OP posts:
OuchLegoHurts · 09/06/2018 16:03

No...it's not as tuneful as that...a more repetitive beat
