To be disappointed in Jennifer Saunders

So. Beattie Edmondson on Graham Norton.

AIBU to think there isn't a hope in hell she'd be on there without her mum alongside her?

See also: Will & Jayden Smith etc

I'm watching it but didn't see the start. Why is she on it?

NapQueen · 08/06/2018 23:06

She is in a new movie. They both are. Maybe Beattie asked if her mum could be there first time nerves etc.

LimpidPools · 08/06/2018 23:07

Why wouldnt they all do the best they can for theit kids?

Be disappointed in whoever booked them. That would make more sense.

NapQueen · 08/06/2018 23:08

Rob aside this does seem like a dud week.

Mustardnowletsnotbesilly · 08/06/2018 23:08

She's been on the comedy circuit for along time.

Nicknacky · 08/06/2018 23:09

I turned it off, it was boring.

NapQueen · 08/06/2018 23:09

The clip of the film looked shit but shes holding her own on the couch

BertrandRussell · 08/06/2018 23:09

Hmm. Would it shock you if I told you that Josh Widdecombe's older brother us a comedy promoter, Daniel Radcliffe's mother is a theatrical agent and Prince Charles' mother is the Queen?

Pancakeflipper · 08/06/2018 23:10

I liked her in the Josh Widdecombe sitcom.
Many families have generations going into same industry acting/ law/ medicine/sports/engineering etc. It's what she's grown up with.

dustarr73 · 08/06/2018 23:10

So if you could get your kids a heads up,you wouldnt.
I dont understand that concept at all.

troodiedoo · 08/06/2018 23:10

I read a father and daughter piece in the times once about her and ade. She does seem to have put the graft in and earned respect.

YouTheCat · 08/06/2018 23:10

She seems very engaging and funny. Tbh I wasn't going to watch tonight but it's been a good laugh so far.

RoseanneBarred · 08/06/2018 23:11

GN doesn't have new actors on unless they are in a huge film ie Solo.

The old JS & DF would have royally ripped the piss out of this.

OP posts:
Fattymcfaterson · 08/06/2018 23:13

Considering she's a 30 year old woman I'd summise that she had worked damn hard to get there especially considering she's been on a TV sitcom for the past few years!!

dustarr73 · 08/06/2018 23:13

The old JS & DF would have royally ripped the piss out of this.
Do you know them personally.

butlerswharf · 08/06/2018 23:20

Showbiz isn't a meritocracy. Smile

MargoLovebutter · 08/06/2018 23:23

I’ve been in stitches, great show tonight. Good dynamic with JS and Beattie. Lovely to see happy, funny, teasing interaction between them.

MrStarkIDontFeelSoGood · 08/06/2018 23:29

I thought the same when I heard but when she walked on I'd realised I'd seen her in several things, so she hasn't just arrived on the scene

That film and Brydons film look massively shit though.

This series of Norton has been weird.

LOADS OF CRAP "celebs" not much banter and a lot of awkwardness

One week it was Emilia Fox, Johnny Vegas and Stephen Mangan. No thanks. And the week when David Beckham came on to say what he was up to and did that thing of being too famous to sit through other peoples interviews. Bore Off.

Bunbunbunny · 08/06/2018 23:30

So you’re disappointed she’s supporting her daughter ... yabu

Bibesia · 08/06/2018 23:32

Is it impossible for the children of established actors to be good actors in their own right? Would you say that applies to the Redgraves, Emilia Fox, Laurence Fox, Joe Armstrong, Daniel Day-Lewis, Martin Clunes, Benedict Cumberbatch, the Cusacks, Rafe Spall, the Mills, David Troughton, Rory Kinnear ...

MissEliza · 08/06/2018 23:33

Who is Martin Clunes related to?

Theycouldhavechoseneve · 08/06/2018 23:34

I didn’t see it but let’s not deprive ourselves of a continuation of the Saunders/Edmondson comic genius.

Bibesia · 08/06/2018 23:36

Alec Clunes, Miss Eliza

GahWhatever · 08/06/2018 23:40

Beattie Edmondson is the star of the (it might be charming and it looks as though my brood would like it) film. Jennifer needs to step back on the joint projects and let Beattie stand on her own feet. It did look awkward. More awkward/obvious because Rob Brydon/national treasure (as Jennifer is) was below Beatie on the sofa...…...you what now?
Overall I enjoyed the show, even when Channing Tatum made Graham feel is arse but he didn't want to...….'oh, lets make a joke out of sexual impropriety' 'I don't want to, leave me alone you American weirdo...I'm gay not bonkers...'etc

gillybeanz · 08/06/2018 23:41

You can say this about any famous person's children.
Look at the Beckham's they've made a fortune selling themselves on the back of a footballer.
no talent or brains, but money to fund whatever their children decide to play at through their lives.
They don't have to be good at anything.
It's us poor folk who really do have to go to college, we can't just wake up one day and give ourselves the title of Fashion Designer, with no years of study Grin
