To be annoyed at neighbours visitors parking?

Came home from work today to find someone had parked on my bloody drive. It's a semi-detached house, and there is a low wall separating our drive from the neighbours. It's very obvious which drive belongs to which house, unless you are completely incompetent. I immediately called DH in case he had any explanation, which he didn't. I sat around for a good hour waiting for something to happen (poised ready to begin the standard parking thread!). Had to put DS to bed and literally as I got downstairs I saw someone come out of neighbours house, got in the car and drove off before I even had the chance to get to the door! Fuming!

Want to go around and tell neighbours to get visitors to park on their drive (this happened a few weeks ago according to DH) but DH thinks i'm being unreasonable and should just let it go?? Argh!!

Penguin bollards and a higher wall. Next time block them in.

Who in their right mind parks on someone else's drive when they're visiting a neighbour? YANBU.

BarryTheKestrel · 08/06/2018 21:20

Go and talk to your neighbours. Do they know their visitors are parking on your drive? If so tell them to do one and not let it happen again, if they don't know, they do now so can tell their visitors not to.

Myimaginarycathasfleas · 08/06/2018 21:20

No, this needs nipping in the bud. We let our NDN use our drive when we are on holiday but they only use it when offered and we’ve known them for ever!

Flicketyflack · 08/06/2018 21:23

Talk to neighboursSmile

If it happens again next time park behind car & block them in so they have to come round and ask Wink

Iloveacurry · 08/06/2018 21:24

I would speak to the neighbours. It’s not on.

smilingsunshine · 08/06/2018 21:26

There was a free space on their drive so I don't understand why they would even park on our drive!

Drives are quite big so annoyingly would be difficult to block in

It's trespass. I would be furious if it was my drive.

smilingsunshine · 08/06/2018 21:37

DH has just been out to collect bins and said he saw NDN (husband) and asked him about visitor parking after I'd persuaded him it wasn't on.

Apparently he ummed and ahhed and then said he didn't know what he was talking about????

Wtf I saw the woman leave their house??

God I would hate that and definitely go over and explain it’s not on.

Was the husband neighbour in when car was there?

BottleOfJameson · 08/06/2018 21:46

I would wait and see if it happens again. If it does definitely speak to your neighbour.

BottleOfJameson · 08/06/2018 21:48

I guess it depends if NDN are actually telling people to park on your drive or if their visitors are just doing it of their own accord. Either way is a bit weird. Now you've mentioned it if it happens again I guess you could block them in so they have to come and ask you to move.

flumpybear · 08/06/2018 21:48

Tell them ... it happened once ... never agAin please or else i'll fuck u up

smilingsunshine · 08/06/2018 21:51

DH reckons the husband was a bit suspect about it all.

All seems a bit odd, maybe I'll ask the wife about it in morning as we usual cross paths when we leave the house.

They're pretty nice neighbours and never had problems before.

EatTheChocolateTeapot · 08/06/2018 21:54

Did you tell the neighbours that you called the police? If so, your neighbour is on mumsnet.

SharronNeedles · 08/06/2018 21:54

Bring it up in friendly conversation with them.

Oh some inconsiderate arsehole parked on our drive! Can you believe the nerve?! Next time I'll be blocking them in and calling the police. Think we should set up a neighbourhood watch to catch these heathens, what do you think Jill?

ScrambledSmegs · 08/06/2018 21:58

So a woman was visiting NDN's house but didn't want to park on their drive, and male NDN denied knowing anything about this visitor?

Chinny. Reckon.

PotteringAlong · 08/06/2018 21:59

He’s having an affair. She parked on your drive in case someone drove past and saw the car...

Singlenotsingle · 08/06/2018 22:57

In which case she's a CF!
