GP Appointments, mental health

My (new) GP asked me to come back to her in two weeks time. I'm really struggling so I spoke to the Emergency GP today and have a prescription for diazepam, but they offered for me to go in and talk to someone so I've asked to see the GP I saw last week. It will be one week and one day between the appointments - I'm not suicidal but I am really dissociative and my day is full of blanks. I'm in a really stressful situation which is going to last for a few weeks...

Just wondering what the "protocol" is though as I am not suicidal. I'm not sure if I should have taken up the offer to go in and speak to someone (I wasn't asked about suicidal thoughts or self harm).

Yes you must go in and speak to someone.
I hope they will help you

Absolutely fine. They offered the appointment. Totally do take all the help you are offered. You do not need to be suicidal to need help. Flowers

They wouldn’t have offered it if it wasn’t the right thing

Please do go to see them and keep going as you need to

Be kind to yourself Flowers

You should speak to someone. If you feel like a week and a day is too long there will be an emergency number you can contact for mental health services in your area. Contact GP and ask. Or if out if hours a&e. (it is considered an emergency if you are in crisis and can't access support)

Thank you, I know I am in a really bad way - I nearly got hit by a bus crossing a road today so I do know I need to see someone. I have my crisis plan here and I am in bed with a hot water bottle (even though it's sunny).

I freaking hate having a mental health diagnosis. I was doing OK and now I have crashed right back down again :-(

In bed with a hot water bottle sounds like a really good plan. I find HWBs comforting even at the worst of times.
When is your appointment to see the GP?
When I had particularly bad anxiety, a very nice GP saw me every week for a while. It was so helpful.

I am going on Tuesday morning, but due to something else that's going on my GP clinic have said that I can go in at any time and someone will see me. I am going to ask for one week appointments for the next few weeks - I think that is what the GP wanted to suggest but in her words she said she was trying to "not clog up my time".

Trauma therapist (who is usually very against contact in between sessions) said yesterday that if I need to see her then I contact them and they will try and arrange it. I think she's worried I won't go to the new GP because she's new, but actually she was really lovely.

I have about four more weeks of hell to get through I think.
