Haggling with kitchen manufacturer over quote

So, we're getting a new kitchen. Been around four of the big names for quotes and Howdens come in cheapest.

But, I think we could probably push them lower again.

AIBU to haggle??

If not BU, how do I go about it? I don't know what to say....

No do haggle. It does work. Compare with the prices at Ikea. "Some of my friends think I should go with Ikea and that it is stupid to spend so much on a kitchen when Ikea kitchens are so good quality now.... and well I am wondering, why do your XXX (fossets/hinges/table tops) cost so much more? Are they more sturdy/heat proof?" Otherwise you can use that line from the "Flog it " show: "Is that your best price?".

It’s definitely worth a try, I have a kitchen showroom and have reduced the price to get business. Say something like ‘your cabinets are my favourite but x have some similar for £ less so I’m really torn, can you do anything with the price to make my decision easier?’ I’m not sure how much say the sales staff have on pricing in larger companies though!

Most kitchen designers have a budget that they can give discounts. I know Howdens do as my sister works there. It may be that they don’t have any room left in the budget
