WIBU to talk to school about yr5 PE differences?

My yr5 son told me that today they were practicing for the long distance race in PE.
The boys did three laps of the field but the girls only did two. It is not big, probably about 150/200m per lap.

I want to raise it with the school that I think this inequality is wrong.

I think that this is wrong on a few levels -
Obviously there is no physical reason why girls can't run just as far as boys, so why are they being treated diffently.
I am concerned about the message this sends to both the boys and girls that girls are weaker and less able etc

So WIBU to have a chat and raise my concerns about this policy?

Or am I missing something and this is a good system? Makes girls less likely to hate PE??
