To think Monster Messenger is safe for 8yo

I think Monster Messenger (monster-messenger.com/) is appropriate for an 8yo to use on their tablet to connect with family members. Someone has told me there are safety concerns around it. Is that true??

I've not heard of it.

I have it with my little boy he's is nearly 6. We've set it up so that he can only text me and his dad. I have had no concerns with it at all. Think it's been 6 months so far.
He likes being able to draw a picture and send that to us too.

We use it with our 9yo. DH researched it thoroughly (and is a paranoid techy type).

If it's set up properly, the child can't receive messages or accept requests without the parent's approval. That's a great feature.

Seems fine to me, we use it

jellyandsoup · 07/06/2018 20:57

We use it and have had no problems with it.

Mine are 9 and 6 by the way, they mostly message each other from their own rooms, sometimes their grandad

Cakecrumbsinmybra · 07/06/2018 21:17

jellysoup curious - why would your DC message each other from their rooms??

22loopyloo · 08/06/2018 15:02

Thanks all! I thought that it seemed totally safe too!

jellyandsoup how sad - can’t they sit in one room and actually talk to each other?

22loopyloo · 08/06/2018 15:42

Me and my sister lived together when we were in our late 20s and used to text each other from our bedrooms Blush
