AIBU to want to make myself sick

Been working really hard recently to lose weight, I work a fairly physical job and been going to the gym 4 times a week

The eating is still a work in progress but I haven't been bingeing like I used to...until tonight.

My daughter went to bed, and then it was honestly like I had total brain fog - one minute I was sat on the sofa watching tv, and when I came to I'd munched through an entire 200g bar of dairy milk in under 10 minutes!

I've never made myself sick before, but I'm sat here in floods of tears with guilt and I just want the feeling to go away :( I wasn't even hungry

Not even sure what I'm expecting anyone to say, just feeling really sad

Well done for all your progress so far. Concentrate on your successes - gym 4 times a week and you've cut down hugely on binge eating. One (big) bar of chocolate is a blip. Remember that you don't want the feeling - and try again tomorrow

ScreamingValenta · 06/06/2018 20:23

Draw a big line under it.

Tomorrow is another day.

Gazelda · 06/06/2018 20:23

Please don't make yourself sick. I imagine that'd make you feel even more disappointed in yourself.
Just put it down to a moment of weakness (I have them almost daily!) and resolve to get back to healthy eating tomorrow.
One bar of chocolate isn't going to undo all of the good work you've done. You're human, you weakened, you can try to be stronger willed tomorrow.

Your body was telling you what it needed. Be gentle with yourself. 💕💕💐

ElderflowerWaterIsDelish · 06/06/2018 20:28

Please don't make yourself sick, one bar of chocolate is not going to undo all of your hard work...even celebrities have a "cheat day" where they exercise and diet all week, then on one day of the week they can relax the diet and have a treat , if you deprive yourself completely then you will crave it until you binge it...

But don't beat yourself up over it, and please don't make yourself sick, it's not good for your health to do that

Urubu · 06/06/2018 20:31

Don't do it!
It is a slipery slope to bulimia, I can tell you from experience.

SharronNeedles · 06/06/2018 20:56

Being sick chocolate is not easy as it's usually all melted in your stomach and gloops in your throat.
If you're trying to lose weight, it would be a very bad idea because you'll start falling back on this whenever you have a blip. I using to throw up once a day after my big meal and on occasion, after a treat if I had one. Lost about 3 stone in a couple of months and my back teeth and index finger nail. Now I have an unhealthy obsession with food and have to force myself to keep food down

MyOtherUsernameisaPun · 06/06/2018 21:04

Please don't make yourself sick. It won't make it better.

One 200g bar of chocolate isn't the end of the world. It won't derail you or ruin your progress. Everyone has moments or days or even weeks of not following their eating plan and it's ok. It's a long road!

Have a glass of water and remember that tomorrow is a new day. Food doesn't have moral weight attached - it's just food. You aren't a bad person for eating chocolate. You haven't failed. You can do this.

Mytrainwaslate · 06/06/2018 21:06

200g is 200g, even if you changed that whole 200g into fat, and it's stuck on your body, it wouldn't take long to lose. It's what, 1000calories? Over a week, that's a snack per day. So this week you may not lose as much weight- don't lose your dignity by inducing vomiting instead.

One extra snack a day this week, that's all you've had. Keep up the good work!

statetrooperstacey · 06/06/2018 21:12

Don't bother even trying, very hard to bring up chocolate. you probably will not be able to bring it up. Then You will feel even worse. Just don't decide to compound your error and keep eating!
Honestly stop thinking about it. It's only once. Shouldn't throw you off too much. You will be fine as long as you don't use it as en excuse to eat All The Food!

MrsJacksonBrodieTheSecond · 06/06/2018 21:15

Sicking up chocolate is horrible, even worse than crisps. Honestly, don’t do it. I’ve struggled for years with bulimia and it’s horrible. You’ll feel like crap and you’ll probably only get about a quarter of the calories out.

Iamclearlyamug · 06/06/2018 21:32

Thank u so much guys, u all really have made me feel better - I still hate myself for doing it, but at least I know it's not going to ruin my life for the sake of one chocolate bar. people say that MN can be a mean place, but I've never found it anything but supportive and you've all proved that tonight.

all I can do is try and head out fresh again tomorrow - I'm flying out to visit my partner in just under 4 weeks and I think I'm just putting huge pressure on myself to see results by then

Chocolate is a bastard to throw up. Do not bother.

Unless you want to scratch the back of your throat with your nails, make your face bloated, eyes puffy and burst capillaries in your eyes (also possibly your forehead, chin and cheeks).

Have a few big glasses of water and tell yourself that this is one day, and one chocolate bar- it doesnt deserve the headspace you are giving it in the face of the amount of work you are doing to lose weight and overcome bingeing.
