Hi everyone, really in need of some advice. me and dh have been trying for a baby for 15 months with no luck, then 4 weeks ago I got a positive test, about a week later I had some weird brown watery bleeding which I've never had before, I took another test which was negative so I assumed it was a false positive or a very early miscarriage. But now for the last 2 weeks I have had the worst cramps kind of like period pain but all day long, I also have a constant pain on my left side and a really bad back ache. should I just wait it out and make a gp appointment for a few weeks time or phone up for a same day appointment? my sil is convinced its cervical cancer and im being punished for never having had a smear test? Hmm

Blimey, tell your SIL to naff off if you haven't already. She sounds like a charmer.

Anyway, I'm no expert but I think I'd want to check that it wasn't an ectopic pregnancy. The pain on one side is what would concern me. I think it would be totally reasonable to ask for an emergency GP appointment.

Fruitcorner123 · 06/06/2018 18:54

Immediately thought ectopic too. So sorry if it is. SIL is rude but please do start getting smears.

definitely get emergency appointment tomorrow. If symptoms develop go to a&e

PotteringAlong · 06/06/2018 18:56

Have you taken another test since the negative one two weeks ago? It might be worth another test.

YoloThankfully · 06/06/2018 18:57

I'd get a same day appointment to rule out ectopic

Slightlyperturbedowlagain · 06/06/2018 18:57

As you got a positive test it is more likely to be pg-related and could be an ectopic or an early mc. As you have cramps you need to get it checked out in the next day or so. If the pain worsens dramatically and becomes very severe you need emergency attention. Ectopic pg can become life threatening if not treated in a timely manner. Hope you get sorted Flowers

MrsL2016 · 06/06/2018 18:57

Have you taken another test since the last negative? Yes I would see the GP but they might ask of you have done a test more recently. And please get regular smear tests, they are so important and save lives.

Bambamber · 06/06/2018 18:58

Have you taken another test since?

Sofiathefirst2346 · 06/06/2018 18:59

It sounds like an ectopic pregnancy to me. I had one myself that ruptured and the pain only gets worse. You do need an emergancy appointment xx

annababybell · 06/06/2018 19:00

I’ve taken two more both negative so definitely not pregnant 🙁

Home pg tests are not reliable indicators of ectopic pg, they sometimes show and sometimes don’t, you need a blood test and possibly other investigations. (And yes once sorted get a smear too Smile)

Sofiathefirst2346 · 06/06/2018 19:01

I do hope I’m wrong OP and that you feel better soon xx

Aw12345 · 06/06/2018 19:01

Definitely I'd say that's an urgent appointment. SIL sounds like a charmer... Hmm

Sofiathefirst2346 · 06/06/2018 19:01

All my pregnancy tests showed up negative with my ectopic xx

Bombardier25966 · 06/06/2018 19:04

Please call 111 this evening, or go to A&E if the pain gets any worse. If it is an ectopic pregnancy you need help sooner rather than later.

RavenLG · 06/06/2018 19:25

As Bombardier said, call 111. I recently asked mumsnet a similar Q (not pregnancy related, but stomach pains) and I've been in and out a&e / urgent care / doctors / clinics since the weekend.

2 weeks is way too long to ignore pain! Flowers

SeaToSki · 06/06/2018 19:29

You MUST get checked out tomorrow at the latest. Ectopics often register as not pregnant on tests and the pain is a big red flag. Your fallopian tube can rupture with an ectopic and you can be in big trouble v quickly, also you loose your tube and so ttc gets more tricky.

They just have to do a quick ultrasound scan to double check for you

yellowsnail · 06/06/2018 19:33

You can have an ectopic pregnancy without a positive test as the hormone levels can be so low. It's very dangerous, please get checked out xx

Oddcat · 06/06/2018 19:38

I work in a hospital and I reckon you should go to A&E - your GP will just send you there anyway . We have lots of ladies turn up with these symptoms , it's best to get checked out . Hope you get it sorted xx

JustVent · 06/06/2018 19:39

How old are you?

Racecardriver · 06/06/2018 19:40

You should call 111.if the pain worsens go to hospital immidiately.
