Help me please ladies. My eldest son is starting school in September, my youngest will be going to nursery. I'll be returning to work and my mom will be helping out some days with child care. How do you keep on top of making sure you have everything covered. I've got a note pad and a academic calendar with highlighter pen all over it and colour codes for us all. Lists of term dates, what leave I have booked, what leave I need to book and I'm petrified I'm going to miss something. My work is not flexible for leave so I have to get booked up well in advance. How can I do this more efficiently, so I don't wake up every night in a hot sweaty panic.

Whiteboard. Not the same situation but the same feeling of panic over forgetting things/prioritizing things etc. I was going through a very difficult time and had a huge amount of stuff going on which all needed to be dealt with and organized and it's the only thing that worked for me. I kept it in a really prominent position and every time I needed to remember what to do I put it on the whiteboard, and I could put a line through it or rub it out when things got done. Important telephone numbers went on there as well as dates etc. and I found it invaluable at the time. I don't need it at the moment but I still keep it ready in case I do.

How about electronically? Beeps to remind you, everyone can access it, you’ve got it with you...

I put everything in google calendar. Life saver. Try to book leave before colleagues who you cover for each other.

Google calendar which everyone can access, including mobile

I have a wall calendar with kids holidays, my holiday and husbands days out of country (he works on oil rig half the time) blue tacked to the wall. I also use outlook categories so that I know who is looking after my child on any given day! I am still a bundle of nerves with feeling that I’ve missed something, but (touch wood) so far, no nasty surprises and my eldest is 6. You can do it
