To change holiday booking and refund stbxp?

ImaginationOrLogic · 05/06/2018 18:54

I have a holiday booked for myself, my children, stbxp and his children. Another family was coming but on a separate booking.

I have already paid my share, plus half of his, he was paying me back in installments.

We are splitting up, would I be unreasonable to pay him back the money he has given me and then amend the booking to just me and dc, for another date as i wouldnt want to bump into him, leaving him to sort out his own holiday?

Hopefully I'm not being unreasonable in leaving him to remake the booking for himself - bearing in mind cost might have gone up now.

Ive done exactly this. I wouldn’t think twice about it. He can’t t reasonably expect that he will be coming with you any more. Be careful with the cancellation though. I got more money back for stbexh by cancelling th whole holiday and rebooking for two than than I would have to cancel one person of the booking

Yanbu. You want to enjoy your holiday and having your ex and his kids there might make it unenjoyable.

YANBU at all!

MrsLaurac · 05/06/2018 19:19

Exactly the opposite imo very reasonable.

BottleOfJameson · 05/06/2018 19:34

YANBU - surely it would be just as awkward for him to go on this holiday?

ImaginationOrLogic · 05/06/2018 20:23

He's not expecting to come on the holiday- I'm just not sure if I should let him take the booking (I am the lead name) and repay me the balance still for his share that is outstanding, as the other family are friends through him so its more natural that he would go with them than me going with them.

I have paid the travel agent the full amount already, and so the amount I have paid is more than it would cost for just me and dc but looking at the small print I don't know if I'll get it back :(

I did this last year. Loved my stepkids though so still took them and their mum came along too!

Imagination I think you need to explore the companies cancellation terms. I got everything bar £180 back because I cancelled over 75 days before the holiday. The cancellation fees escalated after that. If he’s still not paid for his part I can’t see how you would get enough back from him to enable you and dd to go. Maybe ring the agent and explore your options.
