ARGH!!

My (20 year old) son has an en suite loft room and it’s a shit pit.

Asked him to clean his bathroom repeatedly and he either doesn’t bother or does a half hearted crap rushed job.

Asked him today for the 50th time to do it before he goes to work tonight.

I get in from work and he’s playing his xbox and I again ask him, getting a bit short and shitty and he steams the tiles.

Doesn’t clean the sink, empty the overflowing bin or clean the shower tray or the loo.

Two years ago spent £2000 getting it redone (as thought he would’ve moved out and could have a guest room).

AIBU to put up his rent and pay for a cleaner (obvs he wouldn’t cover whole cost) so the new bathroom doesn’t get destroyed.

Make him pay for the cleaner and stop providing any services for him; no laundry, no cooking, no taxis, nothing til he contributes about the house.

mynameisnotmichaelcaine · 05/06/2018 18:35

Not at all.

SoddingUnicorns · 05/06/2018 18:36

Hide his xbox until it’s done properly. Repeat as often as necessary. Don’t get a cleaner to do it for him, he’s a grown man!

MrsDylanBlue · 05/06/2018 18:36

I don’t do laundry or taxi.

I love him to bits and he wants to move in with his g/f

Please move quicker - and I won’t be using their bathroom.

Does his gf stay over? Is she not appalled? Ideally you’d send him out to live with her self sufficient rather than a pig.

MrsDylanBlue · 05/06/2018 18:40

Yeah she stays all the time - it’s grim up there I don’t know why he doesn’t feel embarrassed into doing it or as they are both using it they do it together.

But it’s MY house Angry

Change the wifi password, If I am correct most gamers connect to the internet? He gets the password when what you have asked of him is done.

MrsDylanBlue · 05/06/2018 18:41

Yeah I have done the WiFi password before... not sure how on this new router but I may find out

Sounds like a great plan!! Make him meet the cleaner though, and ask if she's happy to explain to him what she needs him to do to facilitate her work - clear floor for hoovering etc.

Fruitcorner123 · 05/06/2018 18:44

I think your idea is a good one and I would make sure he is paying half the cleaner costs. It will be nice to have a cleaner anyway. Just bear in mind that when he leaves you will either be sacking the cleaner or paying for it all yourself without the rent.
