Sorry to post here but need advice if poss! I'm abroad at the moment with DD(8), due to get picked up at 0250 by taxi for flight. Both went to bed at 730pm and DD's been asleep since... I've been spewing since 8pm! What can I do, if I go to reception would they give me water or meds?? Can I leave DD in bed while I do so? Apols, not thinking straight and never been in this situation before :(

Sorry to say but you absolutely cannot fly.

Call reception and ask for water to be left outside your door? They wont give you meds unless you are somewhere ... unusual lawless

Do you have a rep?

Ragusa · 03/06/2018 22:31

Where are you? Big hotel? Small hotel? Rooms secure??

Theworldisfullofgs · 03/06/2018 22:31

I'd wake dd up and go to an all night pharmacist. It would be awful if she woke up and you weren't there even if they had a listening/babysitting service (And you don't want to be a McCann).
Reception might be able to help you.
Did you eat anything dodgy?

bluerunningshoes · 03/06/2018 22:32

I hope you have travel insurance.
I don't think you are fit to fly, sorry.

Theworldisfullofgs · 03/06/2018 22:32

I agree you will be unlikely to be able to fly if you are being sick.

travailtotravel · 03/06/2018 22:33

You'll probably stop spewing fairly soon. Get water or flat coke into you to stop you feeling dehydrated.

Janediamond · 03/06/2018 22:35

Call to reception and ask them to bring water to you and call you a taxi for closest pharmacist. Take your daughter with you to Pharmacist. How long is your flight?

Janus · 03/06/2018 22:36

I travelled with food poisoning Home and it was hell!! It was luckily a short flight, about an hour, but I don’t know how I did it! Luckily the throwing up had stopped before I left for the airport, do you think it is food poisoning? Have to see if the sickness stops and also, as said, hope you have travel insurance. Most hotels would drop water to your room wouldn’t they??

Myleftfeet · 03/06/2018 22:38

Thanks all. Yep fully insured. All inclusive but no rep and a bit of a shite hotel. I've made a few friends thankfully whilst here and I've just called one of them - she's on her way to an all night pharmacy for me... 3 miles away Blush bet she's grateful she made mates with me... not!! What do I do if I don't fly, just book into other hotel until I'm better?? Would they even accept me if I'm ill? Oh the unrequited drama!!

It is not on to fly even if a short flight. You will potentially infect lots of people, some of whom may be vulnerable.

blue25 · 03/06/2018 22:40

You can't fly in that state and you may get turned away from the flight anyway if they spot you're ill. Rest up, rebook flight and claim on your travel insurance.

Skyechasemarshalontheway · 03/06/2018 22:40

You need to contact your insurance company now they will be able to advise you what to do.

happypoobum · 03/06/2018 22:41

The hotel reception should have a 24 hour number for the tour operator/reps. Hopefully you can stay where you are for another night or until you can get another flight.

Don't worry - this is what travel insurance is for. Flowers

ghostyslovesheets · 03/06/2018 22:42

call your travel insurance company - they will do it all x

Hope you feel better soon :(

Myleftfeet · 03/06/2018 22:48

Thank you all and sorry for not answering all properly. I've checked flights and there are a few later in the day tomorrow. I'm going to see what my friend comes back with, cancel our early flight and see what tomorrow brings and will definitely speak to insurance company asap. Thank you all for the advice!

How are you now?

CheekyRedhead · 04/06/2018 23:21

Check your insurance . I'm an ex rep. Most insurance will only cover 1 adult to stay with a sick child. They will expect the rest of your party to return home
If no better tomorrow take rd to the pharmacy. They are better than here and can prescribe meds

DragonScales · 04/06/2018 23:29

Call your insurance now, they will hopefully take over and arrange alternative flights

Myleftfeet · 05/06/2018 18:59

Hi all. I got home ok. I stayed until I felt fine, which was later in the day and booked later flights for me and DD. Hotel were great with me and didnt charge me extra. Got flughrs really cheap so don't even need to bother insurance, thank you all for the advice!!
