To think bottomless should mean bottomless?

My friends bought me a bottomless g&t at Mr Foggs Parlour in London for my birthday. We booked and went along this afternoon.

We were given 2 little teapots of gin cocktail, no more than 250ml of liquid in each. We watched the bar tenders and about a shot went in each teapot, and we were sharing so it wasn’t like we were pissed. We were then served tea, and the waitress said ‘if you want to order more, you can because you’re bottomless, but this will be your last order.’ The tea ended at 17:30 and this was at 17:02. We ordered another ‘English style’ pot and agreed to have more downstairs, because the taste was lovely.

We were served the pot, and it was literally sugar syrup and water. It was disgusting; we could not drink it. We called the waiter over and discreetly mentioned it was light on gin. The waiter took it away... and replaced it with exactly the same. Just sugar syrup and water.

AIBU to think that for a gift costing £72 per person, that bottomless should mean bottomless?

Well you know the drill. Reviews ahoy.

Might be worth emailing them first though to see if they can sort it.

Your major mistake was being discrete, you should have demanded another one and watched him make the thing. And yes, bottomless means as much as you want.

billy I complained once, the second time I just thought ‘oh god, this is just too embarrassing’ so we just got up and left. I gave them a chance to fix it, but they didn’t want to I guess.

My point is really; it wasnt bottomless. And that’s fine; but just stipulate: it’s the g&t with the afternoon tea/cakes, then you’ll have to buy your extras.

That is shocking for that price.

Facebook compliant is the way forward with this one

There will be some shitty list of Ts and Ca hidden somewhere . Ask where it defines bottomless. I can’t imagine you’re the first person to complain about it

Simulcrum · 26/12/2018 06:19

On very different sites, bottomless means something completely different☺my suggestion would be to raise the whole thing with the management

forthelifeofpomme · 26/12/2018 07:06

Well crum you win the award for the best thread resurrection! I would love to know why, at 6am on Boxing Day, you're commenting on a 6 month old post about gin Xmas Confused

costacoffeecup · 26/12/2018 07:26

How long was your slot? Bottomless things usually have a two hour time limit I find and you have to chase them in the last half an hour as they're running down the time. You need to start off quickly and get as much under your belt as possible 😬

Rubbish that they were so light on the gin. Leave a review definitely.

GinandGingerBeer · 26/12/2018 07:27

I think @Simulcrum was searching the term 'bottomless' @forthelifeofpomme for reasons unknown to me but obviously mean something ahem 'on other sites'
I'm not sure if I want to know!
