I’m finally finally at the age of 41 learning about shares and investing. Putting money into etfs and what not. Question is did your parents teach you this stuff?? My parents & my partners are super educated type people but as far as I know never did this and certainly never discussed it with us. To be fair though my parents are broke! Then I read statistics that 77% people were investing etc & I wonder how??? Who??? Is this knowledge innate?? How did you all find out about this stuff and has it set you up for life? I feel like I’m discovering a secret everyone else knew about apart from me!

My parents didn't teach me because they don't invest like a large proportion of the country.

Google, moneysavingexpert and financial advisors are your friends here. Maybe not all FAs but most!

Financial adviser? It starts when you need to think about a pension, life insurance and long term savings plans.

I can't imagine 77% are investing unless it is "normal investing" like small amounts in stocks and shares ISAs, pensions or maybe buy to let properties.
