Aibu, glue on nails and dd.

11 year old dd was going to a party at guides tonight , earlier today we went into town shopping and she asked for £ to go to the shop to buy a donut bun thingy and some false nails she's had stick on nails before for special occasions. I was in the queue for the cash machine out side so told her to go in by herself. When we got home she showed me the nails and she had ones with nail glue in not the peel off sticky pads. I told her she couldn't have them and that I thought the shop shouldn't have sold them to her. I thought there was an age restriction on buying nails with a tube of glue? But I've had a look online and can't find anything.

I’d guess it depends on the type of glue

Don't think there is a restriction but you can't buy salon grade.

The glue in cheap kits is often actually superglue and very dangerous , it can take the nail bed if the nail breaks. Don’t let her ruin her nails.

I don't understand why glue is off limits, but press ons are fine? They're (the nails) the same thing and the glue is nowhere near salon quality. The flick off easily and providing that you don't file your nails before you glue, no damage is done.

I'm also confused as to why it matters? It's cheap crap at best. If you are happy for her to wear false nails what's the difference

I guess I think the glue on the press on ones isn't very strong and won't damage her nails. I'm sure I've seen signs in some shops saying kits with glue can't be sold to children.

I worked in a hair and beauty shop and it was the store's policy not to sell nails with glue to anyone under 16. I don't see the problem with your DD wearing them though. If you're so worried, why don't you do them for her?
