just wondering your opinions. I’m 24 with a 7 month old.

I think it is young.

MaryandMichael · 31/05/2018 20:43

Had my baby when I was 24. Perfect age.

ReservoirDogs · 31/05/2018 20:43

Yes.

CopONNotLinkedIn · 31/05/2018 20:44

Quite young. But old enough if she wants motherhood

FissionChips · 31/05/2018 20:44

No, had mine at 23 and that is old for my area.

Littletreefrog · 31/05/2018 20:45

I was 23 when my first was born. I didn't feel like a young mum and wasn't eligible for any of the young mum groups around me they stopped at 21 but nowadays (11 years later) I do think 23 seems young as most of my same age friends are just starting to have their first babies in their early 30s.

Elspeth12345 · 31/05/2018 20:45

Yes but that doesn't affect how well you parent though and might mean you have more energy for running around after a toddler later on!

Madratlady · 31/05/2018 20:46

Not really. Probably youngish, I had my eldest at 23 and quite a few of my 'mum friends' who were first time mum's too were over 30.

jimijack · 31/05/2018 20:46

Yes, I think 24 is very young to have children.

At 24 I was traveling the world having an absolute ball. I was far far too selfish to think of a child.
It is personal opinion of course.

goose1964 · 31/05/2018 20:46

I was 24 with my first it's a great age, by the time kids have left home you're still young enough to enjoy life without kids

DragonsAndCakes · 31/05/2018 20:47

Yes, young, but I wouldn’t think there was anything bad about it. Same as at the older end.
Very young, like 17, I’d probably feel it was unlikely it was a fully informed choice and feel a bit sad.

MrsDylanBlue · 31/05/2018 20:47

I had my second at 24 and 3rd aged 26.

I think 22 was v young to have my first child tbh but he’s 20 now and I’m free!

AmazingPostVoices · 31/05/2018 20:47

It is these days but it wasn’t when my MIL had DH.

Stinkywink · 31/05/2018 20:47

Good age. Had mine at 25 and 35. SO much easier in my 20s!

stopbeingadramallama · 31/05/2018 20:47

I had my first at 18 so wouldn't say 24 is young. Suppose it depends on how old the people are around you who are having kids to say whether it's young or not.

bitzy12 · 31/05/2018 20:47

Had my first at 23. I was the first out of my friends to have a baby.

Found out who my true friends were. But I didn't feel to young. I was ready for it though it wasn't planned.

Suppose everyone is different though.

My son is the best thing ever, nearly 9 now. Don't regret having him young for 1 second :-)

ConciseandNice · 31/05/2018 20:48

I was 22 and yes it was young, I still went on to travel the world, get a law degree and a fabulous career. My son is now 22! And it is so amazing. We have the best relationship. Don’t worry. Honestly I’ve had kids in my 30s and 40s and the 20s is by far the easiest.

formerbabe · 31/05/2018 20:48

Yes... although it depends on where you live and your social circle.

I had my first at 26...felt like a teen mum.

tillytoodles1 · 31/05/2018 20:48

I was married and had two kids by then. I was young but full of energy and couldn't imagine being a mum in my late 30's early 40's.

ChatNicknameAlreadyInUse · 31/05/2018 20:48

I was your age when I had my 2nd child. Was 19 with my first. I don't think it's that young Smile

MatildaTheCat · 31/05/2018 20:48

I was 24 and was very young for the area I live in. It really depends where you live.

Chocolatecoffeeaddict · 31/05/2018 20:49

I was 20 with my first. I have four now I'm 30. I'd say its youngish but lots more have babies younger.

lakehouse · 31/05/2018 20:49

Yes. Build your career and establish your security first.

DragonMummy1418 · 31/05/2018 20:49

Not really. When you consider 16 / 18 year olds have babies and even younger. I didn't have my first until 28 and I wanted to be younger but in hindsight it was a good age for me as I was quite immature into my mid 20's.

chocolatesun · 31/05/2018 20:49

It is only young in comparison to the trend for mums to be in their 30s. Having said that I think 24 is a great age to be a mum. I was 10 years older when I had my first and I did struggle with a lack of energy.
