I was in Wetherspoon with my partner today and ordered my usual, the Halloumi wrap with no chilli sauce.

The food took about half an hour to arrive, which isn't great for spoons... it's the place for cheap and cheerful food after all! Then we saw the waiter come out with what looked like our food but he went to another table. He put the plate with my order down in front of a woman and took the other plate back as the table said they didn't order that. As he was walking back we stopped him and asked if the woman's plate was halloumi wrap with no sauce and whether the other was my partner's order. He said yes. We said well that was our order then. He then went and got the plate back from the woman he'd given it to and gave it to me. My partner said no, they need to cook another one.

Was that unreasonable? The waiter looked really annoyed at that request. He said it hadn't been touched but how can we know for sure? She had the plate for about a minute. Would you have eaten it?

What did you stop him for then?

wellwellwellwellwell · 31/05/2018 20:36

He gave our order to the other woman/took my partner's to the kitchen. He wouldn't have realised his mistake or brought us any of our food if we didn't stop him Confused

I would’ve eaten it. I wouldn’t be worried even if she had touched it tbh, unless she looked particularly minging or filthy.

MoodyTwo · 31/05/2018 20:41

To be honest I'd have just eaten it or gone to the till and say our order hadn't arrived

SharronNeedles · 31/05/2018 20:43

I would have eaten it but I don't have very high standards

thumpingrug · 31/05/2018 20:45

I think you were being very unreasonable. It people like you that cause these delays in the first place, by insisting that perfectly good food should be recooked. What do you actually think they did with it. What you ended up with was the same food reheated a bit and probably interfered with for you being so narky. Hope you dont stray to far from the bathroom tonight.

DontTouchTheMoustache · 31/05/2018 20:45

As long as there were no bite marks id have eaten it, pretty easy to tell with a wrap

YouAreNotImportant · 31/05/2018 20:49

It's Wetherspoons. Nuff said.

My DD and her mates (17 yrs) went to our local spoons the other day and each of them ordered a meal. The server clarified what they had ordered, but later brought DD the wrong dish. When she said it wasn't what she paid for as the receipt confirmed, they told her if she wanted something else she would have to pay for it again. She could not eat what they had brought her, due to allergies, but being young she did not feel assertive enough to argue. So she had to pay twice, I am sure that they would not have treated adults that way. Cheap food, c**p service!

Harsh but true

Hygge · 31/05/2018 21:09

Are you sure they didn't keep both plates warm for a bit and bring them back out for you?

I don't think you were being unreasonable actually.

They gave your order to someone else, they should have automatically brought you a fresh one, not taken it back away from someone who was about to eat it.

I'd have been annoyed if I were the other couple as well, putting food in front of me and then taking it away again to give to someone else.

Returnofthesmileybar · 31/05/2018 21:12

I don't bthink yabu, I wouldn't have eaten it either tbh

greendale17 · 31/05/2018 21:12

I wouldn’t have eaten it either

Murane · 31/05/2018 21:28

I wouldn't have eaten it after it had been served to someone else. I wouldn't have told the waiter though, to prevent exactly this situation occurring. Would have waited a few minutes till the other woman started to eat (so it was too late for them to take it off her and try to give it to me) then told them my food hadn't arrived.
