Was the physio out of order?

I had an accident a couple of years ago and am slowly rehabilitating. The physio has been great, it was an unusual injury and has taken a lot of time, patience and research to get me back to a point where I can work and live a relatively normal life.
We are moving appointments further apart 6 weeks this time. I am as good as I am going to get.
Anyway today he was getting me to do basic coordination putting balls into small hoops. When he got the equipment I said it looked like we were going to play rounders but there was no bat. He then opened a drawer and got out a massage thing. He said most people think it is a sex toy and it scares them but it could be a bat.
I have had 2 years of excellent professional physio but today I am troubled.
What do you think?

YABU.

Two years of excellent care, and you're worried by a massage device? Just let it go & relax.

PS I had my sanity saved by an extraordinary physio about 10 years ago: they are the angels who walk this earth. Give hm a break.

What sort of massage thing? What massage thing looks like a bat?

EllenLydia · 31/05/2018 18:15

Thanks.
As you know physio over a long period of time has a rhythm and you been to work together. I hate being weak or vulnerable and there has been a lot of that.
So I guess in another context the remark would have been funny in this one it wasn’t as I was feeling vulnerable.

It was about as long as a rounders bat, purple rubber and had pertruding spiky balls and other stuff coming from the shaft. He got it out a drawer waved it about in caveman fashion and put it away again.

No I don't think so. I think after knowing you for 2 years he felt comfortable enough to have a joke with you.

It was a bit of misplaced humour.

I have a sports massage monthly due to injury-if you saw some of our text exchanges you'd die, we joke about anything & everything as we feel comfortable doing so having known each other a few years.
It was a joke-let it go.

You could be right he also told me off for drinking a cappacino and took me on a hike around a large teaching hospital doing stuff to prove I could.
He was skittish.
