A Boob or Bust one

Myotherusernameisbest · 31/05/2018 13:25

I did the boob or bust measurements to see what size bra I should be wearing and it has come out with the size 30F! Bloody hell!

To put things in perspective I'm an average 10/12 and currently plop my rather small little boobs into a 34B. AIBU to think this new size is nuts!

So before I go ahead and order this very hard to find size, has anyone done this and bought the bra in a size booborbust recommened and that they really thought was bonkers and it actually fitted better?

Mine came out at 28DD. I find it incredibly and uncomfortably tight. However, I know a huge number of friends who find the Boob or Bust sizing much better for them.

agentdaisy · 31/05/2018 13:42

I've just tried the boob or bust calculator and got 34DD. No way in hell would that fit me, the band would be fine but the cup would be huge, I currently wear a 34/36B depending on style and they fit perfectly. I used the method from the bra intervention threads that were on mn a couple of years ago and it hasn't let me down yet.

somersetsinger · 31/05/2018 13:45

I did boob or bust and went from wearing 34D to 30E. Fitters had told me for years that I was 32D but that always felt too tight. By Boob or bust measurements I should have been wearing 28F. But as you say, small back sizes with larger cups are hard to source.

Anyway, the 30E bra was amazing - So supportive and comfortable and gave me a great shape and confidence. Am pregnant now so just wearing any old thing I can find and will remeasure once my body has settled down after birth/breastfeeding.

Do you get the same result with the bra guru? thebetterbracampaign.blogspot.com/p/fitting-advice.html?m=1

TheLionRoars1110 · 31/05/2018 13:49

It worked perfectly for me. I'm afraid there's nothing we can say that will resolve this dilemma for you. You'll have to order some and return them. Try Brastop they have a wide selection of sizes and i think there's something about free delivery if you return the whole order. You might wantto ask on the BoB FB page about that. I've read something on there along those lines.
Good luck trying! i'm so glad i went for it. I look a dress size slimmer!!

dementedpixie · 31/05/2018 13:51

If you measure 30 under the bust then that is your back size. It's just a matter of finding the right cup size after that. I saw in another thread that the BOB site gave a larger cup size than may be needed so maybe try different sizes from a D upwards (on the 30 band)

peachgreen · 31/05/2018 13:52

@agentdaisy Cup size varies depending on band size. So a 30DD cup would be similar to a 36B.

tealandteal · 31/05/2018 13:55

A 34B cup holds the same amount of boob as a 32C or a 30D. Likewise a 36A. So if your measurements were out last time or your boobs have grown I can almost see how you might get to a 30E. Different style bras fit different shaped bodies, order a couple of style (balconette vs plunge etc) and see what you like. Figleaves shock have lots in that size.

When you buy the bra it should fasten comfortably on the smallest hooks. That way you can pull it in as the bra naturally stretches out.

I thought I was a 32B or C, but I’m actually a 30DD/E. I honestly thought that was bonkers, but noticed that my 32s were squashing down what little I had, and the band was constantly riding up. I tried 30C, got huge wodges of armpit fat spilling out. Tried a 30DD out of desperation and it’s the most perfect thing I’ve ever worn! No armpit fat, no riding up, and it makes my boobs look like a wonder bra advert. Shock It’s absolutely witchcraft Grin

CoughArghCoughArghCough · 31/05/2018 14:01

Btw op I’m also a 10/12 and a 30 back isn’t too tight. Hope that helps!

Snidget · 31/05/2018 14:02

I tried the boob or bust method recently and thought the size it gave me was ridiculous. However I tried it and today us my first day wearing a bra in my new size- it feels AMAZING!

It told me i was a 32 J. I was wearing a 34 G and thought the band was tight so there was no way I would fit a 32 band. Not only does it feel comfortable, but my back fat has disappeared! My boobs are completely held in by the cups with no spillage. I feel like a new woman. Definitely give it a go.

Also for reference I'm a size 14-16 so a band size of 30 should be fine for a size 10-12

dementedpixie · 31/05/2018 14:03

30 sounds about right for that dress size. I wear a 36 back at size 20/22

Myotherusernameisbest · 31/05/2018 14:07

This all sounds encouraging, I will order and see how it goes! My bras really do not fit great at the moment so if this sizing is right I will be a very happy lady!

Another one chiming in saying that the back size should be fine. As a rule of thumb your back size is your dress size and add 20 apparantly

I'm a 14. I'm wearing a 36f at the minute. Boob or bust has got me as a 32G. I haven't bought one yet but I'm excited about when I do.

AlmostAlwyn · 22/06/2018 22:41

I had this exact dilemma recently! Though the bras I ordered (32H and 34H, I did the calculator twice, don't know what I did differently!) were far too big in the cups! I went to a shop nearby and ended up buying a 34E. But other brand 34Es didn't fit as well... So it's a case of just try it and see unfortunately! Good luck! Smile

GreenTulips · 22/06/2018 22:46

Yep worked for me too!

Current bra 36B now 34D

Sounds mad but true!

ChiefSpoon · 22/06/2018 23:07

I am a 16 and 34J, was wearing 38E. They look fab, my shoulder pain is gone etc. Well worth the extra money a J is!

MrsICantSayMyName · 22/06/2018 23:12

Mine must be oh so wrong, 38b size 12

Ohyesiam · 22/06/2018 23:18

I came out at 36 F, the biggest cup size that fitted me was D.

PinguDance · 22/06/2018 23:20

I’m a 30F and Boux Avenue are good for cheaper ‘fuller bust’ bras - there not as expensive as Freya etc. I’ve been wearing this size for ages after having a similar sort of surprise measurement. Sizes do change tho so I can get away with a 32E too.

PinguDance · 22/06/2018 23:22

In general I also find Debenhams or Hohn Lewis MUCH better at sizing than marks and Spencer if you want to get fitted and try stuff on in the high street- anyone else found that? m&s measured me at a 36c once. Bizarre.

RachelfromFriends · 22/06/2018 23:31

Yes and everyone said I looked thinner in my new bras!

MrsICantSayMyName That must be wrong!! How does a 38 band even sit flush against you!! I’m a size 20 and wear a 36G, was measured by a professional fitter ‘by eye’ without a tape and went from a 40E. Oh the difference it’s made! I don’t have a waist but I have less of a no waist now and my posture is so much better 😊

Furball · 23/06/2018 08:10

I'm a size 16 and a 34.

Whatever you measure round with the tape measure you measure round, then the cup sizes go up per inch of measure bending forward like this

The cup size is relevant to the band so a 34B is not the same cup size as a 30B

The band should do all the work, if straps fall down it usually means the band is too large. It should feel snug against your torso and if you can ping it anymore than an inch then it's too big. It may leave a red mark when you take it off but only in the same way as a pair of really tight jeans or even socks might.

One way to test the band is to put the bra on back to front and ping it then, it keeps the cups which will steel from the band out of the equation if there is not enough room for them and make the band feel tighter because of that.

You should also scoop your boobage into the cups, alot of it seems to like to sit under the armpit, this is boob and should be ushered up front as per the link Smile
