To find fast fashion infuriating??

I'm writing this whilst breastfeeding my 9 month old daughter and reflecting on my evening...and in fact, my current status as a relatively new mum, and how I want to look nice, like me...but it's so difficult! 9 months post partum I'm still not the weight I would ideally be so not all old clothes fit (not sure they are what I want to wear either?) I need a wardrobe refresh to see me through the summer and my return to work, and also want a nice top for a night out. But how difficult is that to achieve??!!!! Had a quick look in M&S and Next tonight, found lots of depressingly synthetic rubbish, have come away empty handed. I know I'm generalising but feel a bit frustrated...this was my experience of maternity clothes and for a good few years now I've been finding it harder to find clothes I actually want to buy. Is this what happens as you get older?

Anyone got any suggestions of any online retailers/ ethical clothing type places that might sell me something I want to wear? I like to try things on really though, and I get a bit fed up of trawling through pages if stuff online only to order a pile of things I end up sending back...
