Ready meals with fresh prawns

Firstly, if you're going to lambaste me for eating a ready meal then move along, it's not about that Grin

I'm having a chilled prawn linguine for tea. Aibu to be pissed off that my choice is either cold king prawns or shrivelled rubbery ones because they put cooked prawns into a pasta dish that needs heating up?

I'm not btw.

I suspect there are hygiene reasons for doing this.

You don't get ready meals with raw chicken for the same reason.

Raw seafood ( and raw chicken) contain a lot more bacteria than the cooked meats.
It;s to keep everything fresh and safe.

It’s only being heated for a couple of minutes, and the plastic top steams them. I’ve never had a problem with it.

Nooo they're horrible reheated!

I like Waitrose's Prawn Masala.

There is an over-abundance of ready meals with chicken, they should have more seafood/veggie choices.

Iceland do a lovely frozen king prawn linguine with raw prawns.

Iceland's linguine is my absolute favourite but alas, DH went to Aldi Grin

Totally know what you mean about the prawns. Could you decant into a pan and add the end?

Or if using a microwave, take the prawns out until near the end?

DaanSaaf · 30/05/2018 18:53

I thought of that but didn't want to end up with partly reheated/food poisoning. Tis a dilemma.
