To want conveyancer recommendations (SW London)

Recommendations needed! We're moving (within Richmond borough, London) and I need to appoint a conveyancer/solicitor.

I've asked around friends for recommendations and have been given some local solicitor names, but they all look a bit old-fashioned to me - fancy names and addresses, vague description of service on the website, non-GDPR compliant web-forms for requesting a quote, etc.

All the consumer advice websites seem to give a steer towards conveyancers as an alternative, not just on cost, but also on efficiency of service. They say the best conveyancers have online tracking. But they also say it's best to use someone local rather than an online firm, so you can call into the office if needs be to sort things out.

Has anyone got any experience/recommendations they can pass on?

Hopefully someone better then the ones in Liverpool. My 2 nephews are in the process of buying/just bought houses. Solicitors/conveyancing have been a shambles.
One of the reports came back with the house value of £2,000,000 for a small mid terrace - I don’t think so.
Why can’t they do their jobs properly.

You don't need a local conveyancer my first was in a different county, things can be emailed, scanned etc easily. Our more recent purchase was a recommendation from a colleague (his wife's mum) and even though she was local we both commute so are not local during office hours so things were done remotely. Documents etc can be sent recorded delivery if originals are needed.

I use Hill Johnson & Leo in Surbition. They are solicitors and are excellent. Reasonable cost, very efficient and no-nonsense. Never had to chase them once and they’ve done 2 purchases for me.

I recommended them to a friend and they were equally pleased.

Not quite London but not far out, strongly recommend this lady - she did my parents' sale and purchase and sniffed out several things the vendors were trying to hide and was like a dog with a bone.
