Hot tub not working in holiday lodge

Myself and my family are staying in a lodge near The Lakes and are only here for 3 nights. We specifically chose this lodge for the hot tub and lakeside views. It is very expensive at £220 per night.
On arrival yesterday the tub was cold. It was so hot outside it didn't matter at the time and I presumed it needed time to warm up. We were unable to use it in the evening though as planned as it was too cold.
This morning it was no better. Someone has come out to look at it and fiddled with buttons etc. It's still no better. The owner is now being contacted.
Even if it does magically get fixed that's 2 out of 3 days we haven't been in it.
I don't want to be unreasonable but I am disappointed and my youngest child is very upset he can't go in it.
Aibu to request a partial refund? Very unsure as what is an acceptable figure.

I think you are definitely entitled to some refund.

I don't know how old your kids are, but hot tubs are not really suitable for young ones.

Goldenphoenix · 29/05/2018 17:35

I would definitely ask for a refund. It's the main reason you chose that place. I would ask for 50% refund.

OutsideContextProblem · 29/05/2018 17:39

Are there other lodges without hot tubs on site? If there are I’d ask for the difference in price plus at least another fifty quid for the inconvenience (hanging around while bloke tries to fix it during your precious holiday time).

tigwig76 · 29/05/2018 17:40

He's nearly 9 so not that young! I've just had a thought actually. If I price up the difference between lodges with hot tubs and those without then ask for thar back that's not unreasonable is it?

How much per night for a similar lodge in that location with no hot tub? The difference would be your answer.

mummymeister · 29/05/2018 17:43

under trades description this is not as described or as you booked it. any good owner worth their salt would be offering you a refund straightaway. but even if the owners don't then you need to make a very clear timeline of what happened and when so it is clear that it wasn't down to you, you reported it straightaway and that you have not had something which you paid for.

a good suggestion to work out the costs but I would also add in something you cover inconvenience if you have had to wait in.

Rocinante1 · 29/05/2018 17:43

She owes you the difference, but she should also add an extra 10% for the inconvenience and disappointment.

Gacapa · 29/05/2018 17:44

YANBU whatsoever. I'd be raging.

tigwig76 · 29/05/2018 19:03

The owner text me with further instructions and it appears to have warmed up slightly so the kids went in it but not warm enough for me! It's difficult to find out the exact price difference as this week is fully booked. But for next week it's £170.
We only reported it late this afternoon and not yesterday as thought with it being emptied and refilled it would take time to warm up. I think the owner will now question why we didn't say immediately

This is exactly what I’d do, seems perfectly fair. And your explanation as to why you left it a day to see if it needed some time to warm up after being emptied also makes perfect sense. If the owner is reasonable then they’ll hopefully accept this and give you the partial refund without quibbling.

A decent size 6-8 seated Hot tub can take around 12+ hours to reheat properly and get to around 38 degree . It’s probably only just going to be hot enough for you by the time you leave

Complain. We got money back on a holiday to the Maldives when our hotub was disgustingly dirty and not fit to use .

i’m in the same situation, we have our last night tonight… we have complained and we have been left on read and no answer of the phone, just wondering did you end up getting any refund or anything for the inconvenience ? 😫
thank you

Caroparo52 · 09/03/2024 19:03

We're on a hottub Lodge weekend. The 1st night Friday it wasn't warm enough to use. To tonight bingo it is. If it hadn't been working at all would be looking for £100 per night refund

Helfs · 09/03/2024 19:06

Yanbu

MyTealWriter · 10/03/2024 10:45

We had to get in the hot tub at around 11pm as it got to 38° and we couldn’t use entertainment because they charged £80pp to get in, no way we was paying that when we should’ve been able to enjoy our stay in the hot tub lodge and spend time there. Not sure what to do next as we left this morning and were only able to use the hot tub once in our 3 day stay and even then it wasn’t heated up to the full temperature… what would you suggest please?

MyTealWriter · 10/03/2024 10:47

this is the hot tub buttons too, not up to full standard and the person we contacted said it was because we put it in sleep mode… not sure how we was supposed to know what to do when there had been no instructions or labels on the buttons!
