Yesterday was glorious though Grin

Laudanumm · 29/05/2018 14:11

It has sunny and hot for weeks! Too hot.

MorningsEleven · 29/05/2018 14:12

Twenty years I lived there. Snow boots September til June..

WhereIsThisGoing · 29/05/2018 14:12

I think we already had more summer than last year, so can't really complain (though could we have some more please!)

FindoGask · 29/05/2018 14:12

It hasn't been hot in Edinburgh for weeks, Laudanumm. But I agree, yesterday was lovely. I had shorts on.

Laudanumm · 29/05/2018 14:18

We probably define "sunny and hot" differently then.

Starryskiesinthesky · 29/05/2018 14:22

I agree it was lovely yesterday but shite on Sunday, not great on Saturday and shite again today!

Your in the east cost of Scotland in May.... what are you expecting?!! Grin

LoopyGremlin · 29/05/2018 14:23

You are not being unreasonable...it’s crap Angry

Igneococcus · 29/05/2018 14:28

It's been fabulous at the West coast for the past week but we've had such a long drawn out and cold late winter/early spring we really needed it.
I was parked about 6 miles inland in a sheltered area in full sun and my car claimed it was 32C.

FindoGask · 29/05/2018 14:28

I think we probably do, Laudanumm! I think there's been about three days this year where the temperature has got over 16 °C. I've only last week stopped wearing two pairs of socks.

FindoGask · 29/05/2018 14:29

I drove from Glasgow to Edinburgh on Sunday and the thermometer on my car showed the temperature dropped by ten degrees.

Fintress · 29/05/2018 14:30

Try living even further NE, usually the coldest place on the weather map.

Member · 29/05/2018 14:31

I used to live in Edinburgh years ago and must admit I don’t miss the wind blowing up Leith Walk!

Been in England over 20 years but although generally a degree or two warmer, we’re much further west and it feels like it rains twice as much!

hooochycoo · 29/05/2018 14:34

och it's been great recently. Hardly any rain.

I don't mind the Haar. It's part of Edinburgh

EchidnasPhone · 29/05/2018 14:39

It’s the worst! I was searching houses down south because of the never ending winters.
I’m so sick of being cold. Yesterday was glorious in the afternoon but not worth the week of grey & rain to come.

Starryskiesinthesky · 29/05/2018 14:42

I do like the haar in some ways - especially when it burns off!

You can have our BHW freak Glasgow sun. Highs of 24°C here yesterday. I hear people have been hospitalised with the shock.
Thankfully, we seem back to relative normal today.

pigmcpigface · 29/05/2018 14:47

I am from the south, now in Yorkshire. There is no way I would survive north of this. You Scottish folk are tough! (And yes, I am aware that there are people in the Cairngorms who laugh at the ease of the Edinburgh weather)...

cornishstripes · 29/05/2018 14:50

if edinburgh had better weather, it wouldn't be as lovely as the population density would be much higher. Absolutely wonderful place to live. Sunny summer vacation spots are a must though!

cornishstripes · 29/05/2018 14:50

agree this spring has been one of the all time best in the near 10 years we've been here! I remember at least one summer when it felt like it rained solidly, every single day of the summer.

RoseWhiteTips · 29/05/2018 14:54

It’s the haar. May is haar month...
Can’t exactly move the city away from the North Sea.

mynameyourname · 29/05/2018 14:57

“Highs of 24°C here yesterday. I hear people have been hospitalised with the shock.” Grin

29 today in Amsterdam, clear and sunny. It’s been like summer much of the time since mid-April. Utterly bizarre. We’re all starting to feel like we live in Italy or the south of France.

Starryskiesinthesky · 29/05/2018 15:55

I should have kept faith - the sun has just appeared!

To think the weather in Edinburgh is beyond a joke!

It's been gorgeous in Aberdeenshire the last three days! Having lived for a number of years in Aberdeen city itself, though, I'm no stranger to haar! I used to have to drive home late at night and sometimes it would be so thick I would have to crawl along at about 5mph.
