Anyone ever had HSP virus?

Hi all, sorry it isn’t actually an AIBU, but not many people will probably have heard of hsp and I’m posting for traffic Blush

So this weekend I was hospitalised with severe dizziness, lethargy, body aches, fast heartbeat, low blood pressure and a non blanching rash all over my bump (8months pregnant) and spreading fast down my legs.
I was in hospital overnight and they said I had a virus but couldn’t identify what it was exactly and after a lot of prodding and poking they decided the rash was due to this virus.

My DD was staying with her dad whilst this was going on so I didn’t tell him so as not to worry my DD. Coincidentally at the same time he found the exact same rash on my DDs legs and rang me from another hospital to say she’d been admitted for testing. The other hospital confirmed it as HSP virus which seems benign but she will have to have regular check ups for 6 months (possibly longer) as the virus can cause kidney problems.

My question is, as I wasn’t formally diagnosed with HSP (but there’s pretty much no chance it’s not the same thing my DD has had) what is my next step? Should I go see the GP to ask for kidney tests? Or just ask my midwife? Apparently the chances of kidney problems in adults are a lot higher than in children and with me being pregnant too? Has anyone else had HSP? I’d never even heard of it before.

Thank you in advance for any advice

I had the rash spree very fast but no other symptoms (not pregnant) and rash and my daughter had also had hsp so I assumed same. I tested negative for hsp and my consultant said that it is very rare in adults. I was diagnosed with vasculitis. It never came back, but can be recurrent. I had been in hospital with gallstones not long before and was told that it was likely my immune system was depleted hence the vasculitis.

Thank you for that, will have to see what my midwife says on Wednesday. Smile
