Major event my ILs have invited me to next weekend, ive known about it for a few weeks and found this lovely dress to wear. Its like the dress was made for me, it looks perfect.

But the dress is white.

I just checked Clue and my period is due to start the day of the event.

Would you risk it?

How heavy are your periods at the start? I'd go in a pad.

MrsJamin · 28/05/2018 07:09

Depends how heavy your periods are? Sometimes I can have heavy ones so I wouldn't risk it.

NewYearNewMe18 · 28/05/2018 07:11

I've woken up crotchety after a hot and sultry night with little sleep but do you really need to be told to get adequate sanpro and no, it's not normal to leak if you have the appropriate tampons/pads/Bridget Jones knickers.

O/T who/what is 'clue' - don't tell me there is now a period checker app? stupid question, of course there is

Hassled · 28/05/2018 07:12

I wouldn't risk it myself but if your periods are light it might be OK. But realistically if you're going to avoid white you may as well then avoid cream/yellow/pink/peach/grey etc etc - they'll all show period leakage. And then it starts just getting silly.

VogueVVague · 28/05/2018 07:15

I didnt want to wear a pad as the dress is quite close to the body!

They are fairly light at the start (and btw yes clue is a tracker app).

Unless it’s a wedding I’d go for it. If I was going by car I might have a spare dress in the car and spare knickers in my bag.

I think you can put a menstruated cup in before your period starts so that might be an option.

Forgottencoffee · 28/05/2018 07:18

Could you wear a panty liner? They’re quite discreet and might catch any spotting.

Oddbutnotodd · 28/05/2018 07:18

If your dress is so close fitting you can see a pad then no.

iMatter · 28/05/2018 07:23

I wouldn't risk it.

However I'd buy the dress and keep it for another occasion.

Awwlookatmybabyspider · 28/05/2018 07:30

If your periods are only lIght at first I would.
However i would definable recommend taking a change of under wear and putting a spare light weight cotton dress in a bag.
You have to think of the worse case senario which would be that you could leak on to your dress. Yes its mortifying however it's also not the end of the world and I'm sure it's happened to every women on tge planet at one time or another.
I'm not going to pretend it's never happened to me.

Doje · 28/05/2018 07:34

I wouldn't - I just wouldn't want to worry about it all day. I know it's not a big thing as such, but I know my mind would be constantly wondering.

MynameisJune · 28/05/2018 07:49

It depends, does your period usually start with light spotting or a huge flood of bright red blood? I’d wear a panty liner and have tampons in my bag if you just get a light flow at first.

Sparklesanddiamomdsforever · 28/05/2018 07:50

Just put a tampon in the say of the event

TaggieRR · 28/05/2018 07:54

If I couldn’t wear a pad as well as a tampon then no I wouldn’t risk it.

MidniteScribbler · 28/05/2018 07:54

I'd just wear a tampon just in case.

LotsToThinkOf · 28/05/2018 08:00

I wouldn't, if the worst happened I wouldn't be able to live it down. Of course, it might be fine but I wouldn't be willing to take the risk.

RedDwarves · 28/05/2018 08:06

I would just put a liner in and take tampons in case. The liner should catch anything necessary in time for you to notice.

I've never avoided white on my periods.

GalwayWayfarer · 28/05/2018 08:19

I think the risk of leaking is incredibly low but personally I wouldn't just because I would be worrying about it all day! But if you're not usually a period worrier I honestly think you'd be fine with a tampon / mooncup and a slim pantyliner just in case.

VogueVVague · 28/05/2018 08:20

Its annoying because the plan was to go commando!
