Have NC for this.
My DM is not well and as such she isn't able to do all the things around the house she normally would.
DF works very long hours in a very stressful job and has relied on her to keep the house ticking over.
I am visiting this weekend and the house is a state and it is making DM depressed. Hardly any washing is getting done and what has been done has been piled high in the guest bedroom.
I have spent the best part of this morning cleaning and putting away, but I know that as soon as I leave it's going to fall into disarray again.
Rationally, I know DF should be picking up the slack on this, but he isn't and no amount of nagging is getting it done. When she first became unwell I encouraged DM to hire a cleaner and/or to come and help her with washing and ironing, she said she'd think about it but was embarrassed by the house and didn't want someone judging her.
I tried to reassure her that cleaners most definitely will have seen much, much worse.
WIBU just to contact someone and get them to come? My parents aren't hard up to pay for it but I would even pay for a couple of weeks so DM feels the benefit! I worry that she will find it embarrassing and hurtful if I do it.
If I could come every night and keep on top of everything for her I would but it's just not possible!
