Sick Baby and Wedding

I have a wedding to attend today and Dd (1 year old) has come down with a bug. I've been looking forward to this all year, my DM and DB and DSil are roped in as babysitters but I don't know if I can leave her. She's fine in herself, if a little clingy and off her food. The weddings not far so I can come home if she gets any worse, only takes me half an hour. Everyone is aware she's sick and are still okay to have her, but aibu leaving her? Fully expect to be told I am. Please be kind, it's my first time out in months

Go, she'll be fine.

Gosh no, go to the wedding. I have 4 children and the sick bugs comes at least once a year so don’t hold off your life for a bit of sick!! I was going to say as long as the person babysitting knows but you say they do and are fine to look after so just go and stay in close contact.

AllMYSmellySocks · 26/05/2018 10:29

No definitely go she'll be fine. I'd hesitate to leave her with a random babysitter when she's sick but her DGM , aunt and uncle will look after her fine.

Gooooooooo!!!!!!

MaryShelley1818 · 26/05/2018 10:30

Go - she’ll be fine!
You have THREE presumably capable adults looking after her and from what you’ve described she doesn’t sound too poorly.
I’m sure you’ll be able to come home if she gets any worse x

30 mins away with familiar family? Go for sure! I'd be dropping mine at nursery and aiming for a slightly early finish at most like that.

SkyZoomerChase · 26/05/2018 10:34

She'll be fine, it'd be different if she had a chest infection that might need a visit to out of hours or if you were travelling hours away, but you'll be nearby and its only a mild tummy bug from the sound of it.
She may well be over it half way through the day, my one year old was sick 6 times in the night a while back, then completely fine again by morning.

CurlyBlueberry · 26/05/2018 10:59

If she's fine in herself and is familiar with her babysitters, then yes go!

I missed my DBIL's wedding due to my daughter being ill, but she was really very unwell. As in nearly hospitalised. But if she'd just been a bit under the weather but essentially fine, I would have left her with my mum.

TigerBubbles · 26/05/2018 11:28

Thank you everyone, feel like less of a crap mum now! Just been to get my hair done while DP dropped her with DM. She's currently shouting at DM's dogs to get away and threatening them with a plastic spoon so she seems much more herself Grin

She can't be all that under the weather if she's having a go at dogs with a plastic spoon.

Go and enjoy yourself. She'll be well taken care of.

LokiBear · 26/05/2018 11:36

Id go and then leave the wedding during the lull between the reception meal finishing and the evening guests arriving. I hate being away from my girls when they are poorly but wouldnt want to let the bride and groom down.

KarmaStar · 26/05/2018 12:03

Go! She will probably sleep a lot anyway and you are not far away.
Have a lovely time and don't spend all day worrying.x
