Shoes

AIBU to get irritated when a friend doesn’t take her shoes off when she comes to my house, yet I always take mine off at hers?

She has a ‘no shoe’ rule at her house, as do I at mine! We are about as equally clean as each other.

Do you ask her to take them off?

UpstartCrow · 25/05/2018 22:23

Yanbu. I think this may also count as cheeky fuckery.

Aprilmightbemynewname · 25/05/2018 22:23

Buy her some slippers to keep at your house!!

Rainfallrainbow · 25/05/2018 22:25

To be fair, I don’t explicitly ask her (because I don’t want to be rude/inhospitable) but all of our shoes are kept in the hallway, by the door, and I don’t have my shoes on. So to me it’s fairly obvious the expectation is ‘no shoes’.

of course YABU. People are not mind readers

Rainfallrainbow · 25/05/2018 22:40

But if that’s what she does in her house, and that’s what we do in our house, I don’t understand why she wouldn’t take them off.

If she kept her shoes on in her own house then fair enough!

Why anybody wears shoes indoors is beyond me. I cringe when I see Kirsty, Phil and all the couples tramping all over houses in their outdoor shoes. It's just so clearly wrong!

If your friend has a no show policy at her own house then yanbu

Muse84 · 25/05/2018 22:44

*shoe!

MereDintofPandiculation · 25/05/2018 22:53

We're a "shoes on" house, yet there is a long shoe rack full of shoes just by the door, and I'm quite likely to be walking around with no shoes on. You can't expect people to understand your expectation if you don't tell them.

DesignStatement · 25/05/2018 23:01

I agree ~ can't understand why she keeps them on ~ but I'd tell her.
I cringe when I see people walking around with outdoor shoes on carpeted areas particularly.
