Keeping up with other peoples schedules?

My good friend is having a night out for her birthday in a City near to me, however on the same day my OH's Grandfather is having a birthday weekend where he lives - over 5hrs from us. So we've booked to go to see his Grandfather and now my friend is being really stroppy that im not going out with the 'girls'

AIBU in not going? shes not spoken to me since!

Of you had already agreed to friends bday then it’s poor form to cancel on her.

Not speaking is an over reaction though.

I had agreed with OH's family but my friend wasn't to know this!

I'm not really sure I understand had you already agreed to go to friend's birthday? If not why is she so upset surely she realised not everyone will be able to attend?
