To not go to this party

DS (4 years old) had been invited to birthday party this Saturday. Very excited. RSVPd yes few weeks ago. Today came out in chicken pox. Semi expected as most of preschool have had it. So text that he can't come. Mum text back that is only preschool kids and they've all been together then so if he's feeling well (which he is) then we're welcome to bring him.

Now not sure what to do. DS would love to go to the party. But I just feel it's wrong to take a child I know is infectious to a group event. They have all been together at preschool but obviously not with active lesions! Today I arranged for someone else to do the school run because I was worried about him being contagious. The mum is extremely lovely and won't be offended if we don't go, so I'm leaning that way...... What do you think?

I wouldn't go if he's still contagious. You don't know whether any of the other mums could be pregnant.

The mum is being rather silly, she doesn't know if anyone (other parents) are immumocompressed or in early pregnancy etc..

Also kids can get it more than once. My DD had it mildly and then had it properly not so long after

Do not go. Seriously. You don't know what is going on in the families of all those other children. Immune suppressed relatives, pregnancies that might have been too early to announce yet, holidays booked that they wouldn't be able to go on. Don't be that person.

That is completely what i thought! We won't be going. Was just surprised by the offer to come anyway. I hadn't thought about pregnancy etc. Like I said I haven't even taken him on the school run today... Was planning on being closeted away until spots crusted!
