""Hockey extraordinaire – soon to be first team captain. 'Prince of Hiatt Baker'. Really tall and this stands out. Took a girl home on the 16 during freshers and once 'sorted' cycled back to Bunker. Just a very well-known top bloke.""

Even in a student 'newspaper' surely this isn't acceptable any more?
I'd be mortified if it were my son.

I have no idea what that means

Singlenotsingle · 24/05/2018 18:05

Don't understand most of it! (Only the sorted bit)

user546425732 · 24/05/2018 18:07

read the link and it's obvious.

OP posts:
Lethaldrizzle · 24/05/2018 18:08

Yes tis a bit grim

BitOutOfPractice · 24/05/2018 18:17

OP I try not to click on links that I don't understand, from web sites I don't recognise, posted by members with "userxyz" names and less than a week's posting history. Sorry about that Confused

user546425732 · 24/05/2018 18:19

Ah, sorry. It's to The Tab - the student online newspaper.

OP posts:
TheHulksPurplePanties · 24/05/2018 18:21

Hmm. It's immature. But I remember my school paper naming and shaming my DB for taking a girl home at that age. He's gay, nothing happend, but hey, good gossip.

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2018 18:23

I've looked at the link. I don't understand. Is it the 16 bus? What is sorted cycled?

user546425732 · 24/05/2018 18:24

A 16 year old woman.

OP posts:
LanguidLobster · 24/05/2018 18:24

Ewww, 'sorted'. They may be making a pun on safely home though. I hope??

LanguidLobster · 24/05/2018 18:25

Oh stealth...! You should write for them!

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2018 18:25

How does on the 16 tell you that?
I believe you but don't get it.
It's a bit crap but presumably he was 18. Agree the gloating in it is shit

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2018 18:25

Ohhhh
It needs a comma after sorted

StealthPolarBear · 24/05/2018 18:26

And now I get it. People say grammar doesn't really matter.

steff13 · 24/05/2018 18:28

I don't understand how "on the 16," means that the girl was 16 years old.

Earslaps · 24/05/2018 18:34

I think it's the 16 bus as that goes past the University of Bristol halls...

APermanentlyExhaustedPigeon · 24/05/2018 18:34

Not that it excuses anything, but it sounds like people could nominate others, so the paper may not have written it, and I doubt he knew what it was going to say - or if it’s even true? I do think the paper should have edited it though.

APermanentlyExhaustedPigeon · 24/05/2018 18:35

Not sure I articulated that very well, but hopefully you get the gist!

itssquidstella · 24/05/2018 18:38

On the 16 is 'on the number 16 bus'. Presumably the girl was also a student and thus over the age of consent.

It's a bit crass but it's just uni banter, I can't get worked up about it.

Haffiana · 24/05/2018 18:41

I think you should be offended and log it with the police, OP.

supersop60 · 24/05/2018 18:43

OP - are you bothered at the use of 'sorted'?

extinctspecies · 24/05/2018 18:52

Bristol Uni gossip rage?

I remember with pride my own moment of fame featuring in the equivalent for my generation some 30+ years ago.

'Twas ever thus.

extinctspecies · 24/05/2018 18:52

rag not rage!

SoupDragon · 24/05/2018 18:57

I think it's the 16 bus

That’s what I thought. Why would you think it meant a 16 year old? Confused

scarbados · 24/05/2018 19:03

Students bragging to other students; still hormonal and free from the constraints of home. Not pretty but adolescent 'bigger willy than yours' contests never have been and never will be. If they were a few years older I might be concerned.
