To think fireman Sam was better in the 1980's

Watching the new animated series with ds. Sarah is more whiney, Elvis is totally incompetent and Mike flood has less sense than my 7 year old. James and Sarah's parents are accident prone hypochondriacs who feel the need to call the fire brigade for the slightest thing. I know the puppet versions set fire to themselves every other day and puppet Norman caused half the fires on his own but it was so much better than this rubbish. We have the puppet version on DVD but ds prefers the new ones, probably because they have more characters and more vehicles.

YANBU. However, I did find the adverts a few years ago of Sam sauntering along in slow motion to an 80s soundtrack quite amusing

YANBU. Everything about the old version was better, even the theme tune! I loved watching the old ones if they were on, but DS would be very disappointed, as he preferred the modern cartoon version. It's like a lot of the old kids' programmes - they get revamped and modernised, and the kids love them but the parents hate them (looking at you, Bob the Builder).

Hate children's programmes generally, but loved Fireman Sam and Postman Pat, they had that double entendres thing that pantomimes have going on.
